Book Description
Samantha O'Connor knows life can be short. She has known that since she was eleven years old. That's when her beloved Nana died from breast cancer. And as a nurse in Denver General's busy Emergency Department she sees people get a wake up call every day. On Halloween, she gets her own wake up call when she has a horrible car accident and ends up back in the ER dressed as Goldilocks. While recovering at her parents' house, she finds an old box of presents from Nana. It has her huge old teddy bear, a charm bracelet, her blue haired Flatsy doll, and a little black patent leather purse in it. She also finds a letter from Nana written just before she died and a caricature of herself as "Nana's Girl." This reminds Sam of who she really is. Using that as her motivation, she creates a To Do List for her life. Nana's Girl is for all who have lost someone they loved dearly, especially those who have lost someone to breast cancer. Nana never got any treatment for her breast cancer. I can only guess how she must have suffered. She never told anyone. I am sure she didn't want anyone to worry. And I am sure she didn't want to go to the hospital. She always said she hated them. She thought people died there. I don't know if treatment would have helped Nana then. That was a different time. I do know that it does help many now. It is my hope to pevent even one more person from suffering. Although Nana's Girl stems from my Nana, the story, characters and places are fictional. It was too personal to tell otherwise, and I would never have finished with any dry pages. All profits from sale of Nana's Girl will be donated to The Breast Cancer Foundation at www.bcrfcure.org in loving memory of Katherine Mahan.

Happiness in togetherness
Author: Deerkalakshmi V S
Publisher: Suvidhi Publication
ISBN:
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 148
Book Description
Creativity lies within deep inside every soul. For few it‟s evidently seen in the crust while grooming, decorating, painting, planning and executing. To set a few it is still buried in the core, they need to be inspired, induced and digged out. This anthology is one such effort that has come true after several motivations received. Being the teacher who teaches English Literature, creativity being the base of everything finally succeeded in motivating my literary stalwarts to come out with their own creations. This book became HIT even before it is released as it is titled HAPPINESS IN TOGETHERNESS. You would witness a beautiful quilt woven by bringing together the ignited minds and achieved in a short journey. The tales and poems in this compilation are unique in its own way, some distinctive, some childish, some fantastic and a few more very realistic. The thread that connects them is the theme of happiness and togetherness. 35 voices and 70 pieces of art fills this anthology with smooth, cool and fresh atmosphere. As a compiler I present you those unique voices to be heard in your busy time, also let them reverberate in your silence even.
