Book Description
This book, a by-product of a combination of experience and research, contains the model that may potentially end violent conflicts between multinational corporations (MNCs) and their host communities. The author believes that MNCs and host communities can engage in gainful transactions. Thus, he developed the zero-violent conflict model, a checklist for multinational corporations and host nations consideration when choosing host communities for MNCs and accepting MNCs for host communities. The chapter on social change is an attempt to make a case for implementing the zero-violent conflict model.

Book Description
This book examines the role of the multinational firms in processes of European integration. It is primarily concerned with the implications of market integration and industrial restructuring for peripheral European regions. Nicholas Phelps argues that, because of the complex relationship between competition and economies of scale, the persistence of market segmentation, and because of the embeddedness of multinational investment in established production locations, there is considerable inertia in the existing trade and investment patterns of multinationals in the EU. This argument is explored empirically in relation to multinationals operating in Wales. This study suggests that processes of restructuring accompanying market integration are slow to take effect and based on a diversity of motives.

Book Description
Like many other developing countries hosting multinational mines in rural communities, Tanzania has not only witnessed a mushrooming investment in its extractive industry, but has also experienced continuous contestation and disagreements between key stakeholders in the industry. This study demonstrates that analysis of the antagonistic relationship between multinational mines and communities, offers a productive way through which deeper understanding of corporate - community relations, particularly stakeholder dialogue practices can be developed. The study views this `battleground' as not necessarily a problem. Instead, it employs an analytical approach to the actions, views and perspectives of community of place, to offer a locally grounded construct of stakeholder dialogue.

Book Description
It is no longer the case that it’s only society which benefits from CSR actions. A corporation actually helps itself when operating sustainably and does well because of its triple bottom line actions. The editors of People, Planet and Profit believe that whilst Corporate Social Responsibility is by now a familiar concept to academics or practitioners, insufficient attention has been paid to the end product of CSR in practice, which they define in terms of social and economic developmental effect. The contributions in this edited volume explain the developmental aspect of CSR from a conceptual perspective and provide empirical evidence of the impact of CSR delivery on stakeholders in different corners of the World. The emphasis is on what corporations take from and give back to their stakeholders whilst trying to behave in a corporately responsible fashion. Stakeholders, including employees, customers, host communities, governments and NGOs have diverse interests and expectations of CSR. This gives rise to questions about whether the activities corporations support are the ones today’s stakeholders need; whether the CSR programmes being delivered are adequate; and about the relationship between the corporations’ view of what constitutes CSR and that of the supposed beneficiaries. This book offers thoughtful answers to these questions and assesses the outcomes of corporate activities both in developed and developing countries and regions, in terms of economic progress and social and political advancement.

Book Description
This is the first comparative volume available on multinational federations, bringing together an international range of experts on federalism. Multinational federations are federal states intended to provide a framework that can accommodate, manage and resolve some of the most intractable political conflicts of our time that emerge from identity politics: those that stem from competing national visions, whether within or between established states. Featuring key experts in the field such as Michael Burgess, Alain Gagnon and Ronald Watts, this unique book draws on a wide geographical range of country studies including Belgium, Canada, India, Malaysia, Spain, Russia, Cyprus, India, Switzerland and the EU in order to illustrate the pivotal relationship between federalism and nationalism. In so doing, it addresses the practical relevance of federalism to the new political recognition of difference and diversity in the specific form of national minoritarianism. Multinational Federations will be of strong interest to students and researchers of federalism, democracy and nationalism.
