So wurde bereits im UNESCO-Bericht aus dem Jahr 1973 über Ziele und Zukunft unserer Erziehungsprogramme geschrieben: "Es geht nicht mehr darum, punktuell und ein für alle Mal Wissen zu erwerben, sondern sich darauf einzustellen, während des gesamten Lebens ein sich ständig entwickeltes Wissen zu erarbeiten und 'leben zu lernen'." Aufbauend auf dieser Grundlage möchte ich mich mit dem Handlungsfeld der Personalentwicklung auseinandersetzen und werde thematisch die Möglichkeiten des Lebenslangen Lernens im betrieblichen Kontext und die Herausforderungen für die Personalentwicklung behandeln. Genauer möchte ich die Frage beantworten, welche Strategien mittelständische Betriebe in Deutschland verfolgen, um Lebenslanges Lernen zu integrieren. Beginnen werde ich mit einem allgemeinen Einblick in Lebenslanges Lernen, dessen Definition und der Zugehörigkeit von Lebenslangem Lernen im betrieblichen Kontext. Im ersten Hauptteil setze ich mich dann mit mittelständischen Unternehmen in Deutschland und deren Weiterbildungsaktivitäten auseinander. Im zweiten Hauptteil beschäftige ich mich dann mit dem Handlungsfeld der Personalentwicklung, dessen genereller Bedeutung für den betrieblichen Kontext und den konkreten Handlungsmöglichkeiten. Vor allem aber auch mit den Handlungsmöglichkeiten für mittelständische Unternehmen und wie Personalentwicklung dort verstärkt integriert werden kann. Als zweiten und dritten Punkt werde ich dann die konkreten Prozesse der Bedarfsermittlung und der Umsetzung von Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen erläutern. Im zweiten Abschnitt des zweiten Hauptteils beschäftige ich mich mit den Instrumenten der Personalentwicklung, um auch hier einen konkreten Einblick zu verschaffen, welche Anwendungsmöglichkeiten die Personalentwicklungen nutzt. Daran anknüpfend werde ich ein Fallbeispiel der Personalentwicklung an der Universität Hildesheim präsentieren, mit welchem ich einen Einblick in eine mögliche, der Realität entsprechenden, Ausführung von Personalentwicklung aufzeigen werde. Zuletzt erarbeite ich Herausforderungen für die Personalentwicklung. Ebenso spielen aber auch Herausforderungen der Personalentwicklung im Hinblick auf mittelständische Unternehmen eine Rolle und wie diesen entgegengewirkt werden kann, um die berufliche Weiterbildungsbeteiligung im Mittelstand zu steigern.
