Book Description
This new edition of MoMA Highlights presents 375 works from the Museum of Modern Art's unparalleled collection of modern and contemporary art. Featuring 170 new selections--a greater representation of women, artists of color and artists from around the world--this updated volume reflects the inclusionary ethos of the newly expanded museum. MoMA Highlights presents a rich chronological overview of the art of the past 150 years, beginning with a photograph made around 1867 and concluding in 2017, with an Oscar-nominated documentary film. In between, readers will encounter some of the most beloved artworks in the museum's collection--iconic works by Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol, among many others--and discover lesser-known but equally fascinating and significant objects of art, architecture and design from around the world. Each work is represented by a vibrant image and a short, lively and informative text, many of which have been newly written or significantly revised for this edition. Published to accompany the opening of the museum's new and expanded collection galleries in 2019, MoMA Highlights is an indispensable survey of one of the world's premier collections of "the art of our time."

Book Description
For the past few years, The Museum of Modern Art has been in the midst of the largest building project in its history. Designed by Yoshio Taniguchi, the new museum will open in midtown Manhattan in November 2004 - 2005 to coincide with MoMA's 75th anniversary. The 630,000-square-foot complex is nearly twice the size of the former facility, with dramatically expanded and redesigned spaces for exhibitions, public programming, educational outreach, and scholarly research. In his initial proposal, Taniguchi explained that his goal was "to create an ideal environment for art and people through the imaginative and disciplined use of light, materials, and space." His stated vision of "a museum that preserves and reinforces MoMA's unique character as the repository of an incomparable collection of modern and contemporary art, as a pioneer of museums of modern art with a unique historical inheritance, and as an urban institution in a midtown Manhattan location" has been resoundingly implemented. The New Museum of Modern Art offers an affordable, concise overview of the new building and its master architect by Glenn D. Lowry, Director of The Museum of Modern Art.

Book Description
The explosive development of the practice and technology of printed art has been a fundamental characteristic of the art of the 1960s and 1970s. Never in the past have had so many artists devoted so much of their creative energy to the production of fine prints and to innovative work with printed materials, to the media of multiplication rather than the arts of the unique work. This book is an international survey of diverse styles and techniques of the period: the revival of traditional lithography and etching; the development and intensive use of silkscreen processes; the refinement of aquatint; adaptations of photographically induced images; experimentation with Xerox, rubber stamp, blueprint, and other commercial methods. Miss Castleman discusses the effect of new scientific processes, new papers and materials, and the growth of the audience for printed art, along with the establishment of fine workshop facilities and close collaboration between artists and technicians. She considers the intellectual influence of minimalist and conceptual art and comments upon the political and social implications of the artist's search for widespread communication of creative expression. More than a hundred works are illustrated, representing such artists as Jennifer Bartlett, Joseph Beuys, David Hockney, Jasper Johns, Ellsworth Kelly, Joan Miro, and Andy Warhol.
