Book Description

Book Description
The study of complex hysteresis problems has become increasingly important in recent years, since the hysteresis phenomenon affects significantly the decisions that have to be rendered in a wide range of real-world practical applications. For example, the so-called hysteresis effects may influence substantially some fields not directly related to the natural sciences such as finance, economy, or fiscal policy. In addition, such phenomenon is also typically present in many engineering and physics applications of interest such as in magnetism, spin-valve technology, semiconductors, surface physics, aeronautical and civil engineering aerodynamics, complex battery systems, biology, etc. This book focuses on the most recent attempts for modeling a diverse variety of complex hysteresis problems faced in economics, engineering, and physics. The chapters of this book provide a self-contained, rigorous, and clear treatment of the different types and sources of hysteresis under a large spectrum of applications. The book also highlights how stochastic control and other mathematical tools as well as econometric techniques can be applied for analyzing the complex properties of hysteresis problems. This authoritative book is a definitive guide on how to understand the newest designs for modeling hysteresis in highly complex systems and thus it will be an essential reading for graduate students and researchers in economics, engineering, and physics.

Book Description
The ability to predict the properties of magnetic materials in a device is essential to ensuring the correct operation and optimization of the design as well as the device behavior over a wide range of input frequencies. Typically, development and simulation of wide-bandwidth models requires detailed, physics-based simulations that utilize significant computational resources. Balancing the trade-offs between model computational overhead and accuracy can be cumbersome, especially when the nonlinear effects of saturation and hysteresis are included in the model. This study focuses on the development of a system for analyzing magnetic devices in cases where model accuracy and computational intensity must be carefully and easily balanced by the engineer. A method for adjusting model complexity and corresponding level of detail while incorporating the nonlinear effects of hysteresis is presented that builds upon recent work in loss analysis and magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) modeling. The approach utilizes MEC models in conjunction with linearization and model-order reduction techniques to process magnetic devices based on geometry and core type. The validity of steady-state permeability approximations is also discussed.

Book Description
This unique compendium deals with modeling magnetic media exhibiting hysteresis using computationally efficient phenomenological models that may be utilized in a wide spectrum of both coupled and non-coupled situations. The main factors affecting the behavior of media exhibiting hysteresis -- such as magnetic field, mechanical stress and temperature -- are dealt with from a higher-level perspective. The volume offers a brief review of well-established definitions of the hysteresis phenomena and widely utilized models. It then presents in its separate chapters a set of innovative efficient multi-component hysteresis models, some of which involves novel operators and/or neural network activation functions as primitive building blocks. Identification methodologies, simulations and experimental verifications for the presented models are also prominently highlighted. This useful reference text offers a great resource material for academics, professionals, researchers and graduate students in electrical and electronic engineering, superconductivity, magnetic materials and mechanical engineering.

Book Description
The book deals with selected modern aspects of artificially layered structures and bulk materials involving antiferromagnetic long-range order. Special emphasis is laid on the prototypical behavior of Ising-type model systems. They play a crucial role in the field of statistical physics and, in addition, contribute to the basic understanding of the exchange bias phenomenon in MBE-grown magnetic heterosystems. Throughout the book, particular attention is given to the interplay between experimental results and their theoretical description, ranging from the famous Lee-Yang theory of phase transitions to novel mechanisms of exchange bias.

Book Description
This book introduces the basic fundamentals, models, emulators and analyses of mem-elements in the circuit theory with applications. The book starts reviewing the literature on mem-elements, models and their recent applications. It presents mathematical models, numerical results, circuit simulations, and experimental results for double-loop hysteresis behavior of mem-elements. The authors introduce a generalized memristor model in the fractional-order domain under different input and different designs for emulator-based mem-elements, with circuit and experimental results. The basic concept of memristive-based relaxation-oscillators in the circuit theory is also covered. The reader will moreover find in this book information on memristor-based multi-level digital circuits, memristor-based multi-level multiplier and memcapacitor-based oscillators and synaptic circuits.

Book Description
Develops a theory of contemporary culture that relies on displacing economic notions of cultural production with notions of cultural expenditure. This book represents an effort to rethink cultural theory from the perspective of a concept of cultural materialism, one that radically redefines postmodern formulations of the body.
