Book Description
This book summarizes the NATO Advanced Research Workshop (ARW) on “Nanoengineered Systems for Regenerative Medicine” that was organized under the auspices of the NATO Security through Science Program. I would like to thank NATO for supporting this workshop via a grant to the co-directors. The objective of ARW was to explore the various facets of regenerative me- cine and to highlight role of the “the nano-length scale” and “nano-scale systems” in defining and controlling cell and tissue environments. The development of novel tissue regenerative strategies require the integration of new insights emerging from studies of cell-matrix interactions, cellular signalling processes, developmental and systems biology, into biomaterials design, via a systems approach. The chapters in the book, written by the leading experts in their respective disciplines, cover a wide spectrum of topics ranging from stem cell biology, developmental biology, ce- matrix interactions, and matrix biology to surface science, materials processing and drug delivery. We hope the contents of the book will provoke the readership into developing regenerative medicine paradigms that combine these facets into cli- cally translatable solutions. This NATO meeting would not have been successful without the timely help of Dr. Ulrike Shastri, Sanjeet Rangarajan and Ms. Sabine Benner, who assisted in the organization and implementation of various elements of this meeting. Thanks are also due Dr. Fausto Pedrazzini and Ms. Alison Trapp at NATO HQ (Brussels, Belgium). The commitment and persistence of Ms.

Book Description
Over the past 20 years, the biomedical research community has been delivering hundreds of breakthroughs expected to extend human lifespan beyond thresholds imaginable today. However, much of this research has not yet been adopted into clinical practice, nor has it been widely publicized. Biomedicine will transform our society forever by allowing people to live longer and to continue working and contributing financially to the economy longer, rather than entering into retirement and draining the economy through pensions and senior healthcare. Old age will become a concept of the past, breakthroughs in regenerative medicine will continue, and an unprecedented boom to the global economy, with an influx of older able-bodied workers and consumers, will be a reality. A leading expert in aging research, author Alex Zhavoronkov provides a helicopter view on the progress science has already made, from repairing tissue damage to growing functional organs from a single cell, and illuminates the possibilities that the scientific and medical community will soon make into realities. The Ageless Generation is an engaging work that causes us to rethink our ideas of age and ability in the modern world.

Book Description
One deep yearning-the desire to live a fuller and longer life-has endured through the years in the vast tapestry of human experience. Humanity has always tried to test the limits of our mortality, from ancient civilizations to our current, highly technological culture. Beyond the constraints imposed by time and nature, we have always wanted to flourish. Thank you for visiting "Living Beyond Expectations: Revolutionizing Medicine for a Fuller and Extended Life." To live longer, healthier, and more happy lives, humanity has made some incredible progress, which is explored in this book. It dives into the fascinating past, forward-thinking discoveries, and bright future of health and science that promise to reshape our ideas of what it means to grow old and prosper in the twenty-first century and beyond. The following pages will take you on an enthralling journey that reveals the enduring appeal of long life for humans, as well as the astounding advancements that have motivated our unrelenting search for it. We will explore the lives of visionaries and trailblazers who have pushed the limits of human existence, from the ancient alchemists looking for the elixir of life to the ground-breaking researchers of the present using genetics and artificial intelligence to increase our lifespans. This book, however, is more than just a trip through history. It serves as a guide for a time when science and medicine will work hand in hand to fundamentally alter how we age. We will examine the most recent developments in tailored treatments, regenerative medicine, and artificial intelligence, as well as the amazing potential of technologies like nanomedicine, gene editing, and nanotechnology to alter the fundamental nature of life itself. "Living Beyond Expectations" is also an appeal for action. It forces us to reevaluate our preconceived views about aging and what it means to get older. We will challenge the cultural narratives that frequently constrain how we view aging and encourage us to appreciate the full range of human potential at every stage of life. Prepare to be inspired, informed, and empowered as you travel through history, the present, and the future of medicine and aging. We intend to kindle in you a spark-an ember of optimism that contradicts the accepted wisdom about aging and ignites your will to live above and beyond expectations. It is now necessary to imagine a society in which everyone can live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives and in which becoming older will merely be a threshold to new chances and experiences rather than a fixed point. The book "Living Beyond Expectations" encourages you to embark with us on this incredible journey and explore the limitless opportunities that lie ahead as we transform medicine and reimagine the concept of healthy living for a longer and more fulfilling life.
