Book Description
NATIONAL BESTSELLER TV star Misha Collins and his wife, journalist and historian Vicki Collins, show families how to be mealtime adventurers so that kids might have a lifelong relationship with real food Chicken nuggets. Hot dogs. Macaroni and cheese. These are just some of the greatest hits we offer kids at mealtime. Misha and Vicki Collins totally get it. When their son West was a toddler, he began refusing anything that wasn’t bland and beige. At first, they succumbed, anything to end the mealtime battles. But with sinking hearts they realized fruit snacks and buttered noodles weren’t just void of nutrition, they were setting him up for a lifetime with a limited palate and a reliance on convenience foods. So, as a family, they decided to lean into what they love best—adventure—and invited their kids to be playful and exploratory in the kitchen. Now, in The Adventurous Eaters Club, Misha and Vicki share how they created a home where mealtime doesn’t involve coercion or trickery, and where salad, veggies, fresh soups, and fruit are the main course. Combining personal anecdotes and practical tips with over 100 creative, delicious, whimsical recipes little hands can help prepare The Adventurous Eaters Club offers readers all the support, encouragement, and practical advice they need to make lifelong adventurous eaters out of their kids.

Book Description
Gilbert & George never cook and always eat out. Back in 1969, however, the artist duo hosted The Meal, an elaborate dinner party that included thirteen guests, Princess Margaret's butler, a chef who prepared a meal from a Victorian cookery manual, and the guest of honor, artist David Hockney. While the art world of the time was largely characterized by Pop art, Minimalism, and Conceptual art, Gilbert & George developed an entirely unique philosophy and combined their daily lives with their artistic vision; in short, their art and life are one! Charlotte Birnbaum took a trip to London's East End to visit the immaculately dressed pair to discuss The Meal and other curious projects from their fifty-year collaboration. Also included here are photos and memorabilia from the singular event. On the Table is a series of publications edited by Charlotte Birnbaum that explores the encounter between food and art.

Book Description
Published in 1837 in Philadelphia, The Art of Dining; And the Art of Attaining High Health was originally published as a series of weekly articles titled The Original by social-activist author Thomas Walker. The collection is divided into three parts pertaining to the art of dining, achieving good health, and enjoying supper. Of dining, Walker states, “we are ordinarily content with the standard of mediocrity….Anybody can dine, but very few know how to dine, so as to ensure the greatest quantity of health and enjoyment.” Walker continues the section with a detailed explanation and ramblings about the proper way to dine, showcasing a fascinating glimpse into the dining habits of the early 19th century. Although most of the tome focuses on dining, The Art of Dining; And the Art of Attaining High Health also explores achieving good health and enjoying supper. Of the first, Walker wisely states, “Content the stomach, and the stomach will content you,” and follows with advice still believed today, that eating natural, good food leads to good health. Of supper, Walker proclaims, “Dinner is a business; supper an amusement” and warns readers to not forgo this important meal. The Art of Dining; And the Art of Attaining High Health was written in the early 19th century, but Walker clearly expounds on ideas that are still current for “foodies,” food writers, and health food advocates of today. This edition of The Art of Dining; And the Art of Attaining High Health was reproduced by permission from the volume in the collection of the American Antiquarian Society, Worcester, Massachusetts. Founded in 1812 by Isaiah Thomas, a Revolutionary War patriot and successful printer and publisher, the Society is a research library documenting the life of Americans from the colonial era through 1876. The Society collects, preserves, and makes available as complete a record as possible of the printed materials from the early American experience. The cookbook collection includes approximately 1,100 volumes.
