Book Description
Born the son of a clergyman on October 18, 1662, Matthew Henry was ordained into the British Presbyterian Church where he held the pastorate in Chester from 1687 to 1712. He was widowed, married again and had 10 children, three whom died in infancy. Henry died in 1714. Henry began work on his commentary as "Notes On The New Testament" in 1704 and the monumental work was completed shortly before his death in 1714. Remembered as a caring pastor, a passionate lover of the Word of God, and a man of great personal integrity, Matthew Henry has left his mark on the hearts of countless Christians who seek a deeper understanding of the riches that Scripture contains. This edition of Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible uses the King James text and is abridged from the original six volumes while faithfully retaining all of the vibrant themes of that classic work. Everything here is in Matthew Henry's own words and nothing relevant to today's reader has been omitted.

Book Description
In the controversy over the role of women in the church, complementarians/hierarchists routinely claim to be upholding the "traditional" position. Like the little boy who declared that "the emperor has no clothes," J. G. Brown exposes the fallacies in this claim. The authentic traditional interpretation of passages such as 1 Timothy 2:11-14 differs substantially from contemporary readings, whether egalitarian or hierarchist. Most prominent Protestant exegetes--from Luther and Calvin through those in the early nineteenth century--understood creation ordinances (male headship/female subordination) as foundational to the temporal world, not the church. An Historian Looks at 1 Timothy 2:11-14 brings history and theology together in a fresh way, with startling implications for the ongoing debate.

Victory over the Sinful Nature. This reality can be our hope and encouragement for living with a winning strategy in our lives if we repent and accept God's grace and forgiveness in our hearts. As individuals now, in the past, and in the future, we are involved in a spiritual battle between good and evil. Satan and his band of soldiers are our enemy. Jesus is our Redeemer who fights for us and who loves us unconditionally. As we battle daily against temptations and enticements from Satan and his cohorts to commit sins, through the truth of God's Word, we can have victory in our lives. We do not have to be deceived or led astray. Understanding the sinful nature and the works of the flesh will help to prevent us from being confused or deceived and will enable us to defeat our enemies spiritually. Victory is winning a battle, struggle, or contest. It is being successful in defeating an enemy. We can have victory, good judgment, and understanding of God's Word and will for us. The purpose of this book is to help those who read it to understand what the works of the flesh and the temptations that we face daily are, and to recognize the difference between the sinful nature and the spiritual warfare we face. There is clarification of how the sinful nature operates in a person's life. The works of the flesh can prevent us from entering God's kingdom. When we look at God's Word we realize and understand that as Christians we are not under the law and with the Holy Spirit we will not gratify the sinful nature. The information here is geared to everyone who has an open mind and heart to the Lord and his amazing grace.

Book Description
Through the centuries hard questions have been deliberated concerning God’s will. Understanding God’s will and how it theologically functions in relationship to man’s salvation can be a daunting task. Answering some of those questions from the Scriptures brings clarity and helps us understand the glorious God that we serve. Have you ever wondered: Does God love only the elect? If God does not desire the wicked to perish, is God’s will frustrated when the sinner goes his own way? Why is God seen as “repenting,” or “sad,” and even “changing His mind”?! What is “common grace,” and is it really found in the Bible? Does God desire things He does not decree, and does He decree things He does not desire? How many wills does God have? This book gives the Christian the proper hermeneutical tools to define “God’s will” and how that will works in and through redemptive history. It also aids the reader to distinguish between the two systems of Arminianism and Calvinism, and demonstrates why Arminianism and Hyper-Calvinism are biblically inconsistent.

Book Description
At first look, it seems logical Christian maturity and preparation for eternity would go hand in hand with marriage. But when one delves deeper and takes a look at statistics, it does not always work that way. Maturation through Marriage: And the Enticement of Divorce takes an honest look at author Lowell Luecks theological and spiritual reflection on the texture and contours of the fabric of his married life. It does not shy away from honestly portraying his sins but balances those statements of shortcoming with equally powerful reminders of the consolation and guidance from the Scriptures. Lueck found faulty applications or fundamental violations of Biblical principles by Christian spouses and the Christian church have allowed the tragic destruction of families. Lack of adaptation to no-fault divorce statutes; frustration of trying to apply biblical principles to our twenty-first-century Western worldview of love, dating, and marriage; and the unwillingness of the church to uphold Godly encouragement and accountability are some of the issues Lueck addresses. As a Christian marriage and family therapist with two failed marriages, he writes from an insiders perspective and with a willingness to share his shame of these experiences and also his deliverance from the false guilt that he had carried. Written in an easy-to-understand manner, Maturation through Marriage: And the Enticement of Divorce is not just theory. Based upon the authors firsthand experience, this book can help you deal with the same or similar issues.
