Materials for Infrared Detectors and Sources, Interfaces, Superlattices and Thin Films Symposium Held in Boston, Massachusetts on December 1-5, 1986. Material Research Society Symposia Proceedings
Author: R. F. Farrow
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 510
Book Description
This book contains most of the papers presented at the symposium: Material s for Infrared Detectors and Sources held in Boston, Massachusetts, December 1-5, 1986. This symposium brought together the leading groups from the USA, Europe and Japan working on the preparation and characterization of materials for infrared detectors and sources. Much of the activity in this field is driven by the need for focal-plane array imagers operating in the medium (3-5 micron) and long (8-14 micron) wavelength atmospheric transmission windows. In addition there is now a growing interest in the preparation and exploration of detector and source materials for fiber-optic communications at wavelengths beyond 1.5 microns. The objectives of the symposium were threefold: firstly, to review progress in the key areas of bulk and epitaxial growth technologies for preparation of infrared materials; secondly, to review techniques for characterization of infrared materials; and thirdly, to evaluate the potential of novel materials and structures for infrared detectors as well as new epitaxial technologies for preparation of detector structures.

Infrared Applications of Semiconductors: Volume 450
Author: M. Omar Manasreh
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 512
Book Description
This book is unique in that it combines for the first time the infrared detectors and infrared lasers and emitters in one volume. It is merely a step, however, in a very fast-changing field, toward achieving an understanding of novel structures that can be used for high-performance infrared detectors, imaging arrays, infrared lasers and sources. Internationally-known experts discuss recent advances in materials structures, processing and device performances, with presentations crossing materials and discipline boundaries. Recent investigations based on III-V, II-VI and IV bulk semiconductors, quantum wells, and superlattices for long-wavelength infrared detectors, emitters, sources and materials are featured. Topics include: antimonide-related materials and devices; quantum wells and devices; quantum infrared detectors; HgCdTe - materials, devices and processing; nonlinear and parametric oscillator material; interdiffusion in heterostructures and related topics.

Solid-State Photoemission and Related Methods
Author: Wolfgang Schattke
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3527621008
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 515
Book Description
Photoemission is one of the principal techniques for the characterization and investigation of condensed matter systems. The field has experienced many developments in recent years, which may also be put down to important achievements in closely related areas. This timely and up-to-date handbook is written by experts in the field who provide the background needed by both experimentalists and theorists. It represents an interesting framework for showing the connection between theory and experiment by bringing together different concepts in the investigation of the properties of materials. The work addresses the geometric and electronic structure of solid surfaces and interfaces, theoretical methods for direct computation of spectra, experimental techniques for data acquisition, and physical models for direct data interpretation. It also includes such recent developments as full hemisphere acceptance in photoemission, two-electron photoemission, (e, 2e) electron diffraction, and photoelectron-electron/hole interaction.
