The goal was moral education to build better men, just as the old stonemasons had built cathedrals and castles. However, all of this was conducted in seclusion from the outside world. It involved learning secrets and swearing to keep them. The Mission of the Lodge is, and shall always be, to promote a way of life that binds like-minded men in a worldwide brotherhood that transcends all religious, ethnic, cultural, social, and educational differences; by teaching the great principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
