Book Description
Excerpt from Maryland Chancery Practice: With an Appendix, Containing Forms of Proceedings, the Rules of the Circuit Court of Baltimore City, a List of the Maryland Judiciary and Terms of the Courts In the public notice of its preparation, it was stated, that it would include matters of Jurisdiction, Practice and Pleading, in Courts of Equity, peculiar to the local jurisprudence of Maryland. That refer emees would be made to the Code and-its Supplements, the decisions of the Court of Appeals, and the Courts of Baltimore City. However imperfectly this promise may be found on perusal to be fulfilled, such is really the design of the work, now presented to the liberal consideration of the profession. Book Description
Excerpt from Reports of Cases Decided in the High Court of Chancery of Maryland, Vol. 1 ON receiving the appointment of Chancellor, I determined to make every effort to acquire a competent' knowledge of the peculiar principles and practice of the Court of Chancery of Maryland, to which my attention had been so rarely drawn, and for which I had had, for many years in the judicial stations I previously held, so little use. Upon inquiry I soon found, that any thing like an accurate know ledge of those peculiarities was only to be gathered from the records themselves; to which I therefore resorted, and after a careful perusal noted the course of proceeding, and occasionally made short digests of such cases as appeared most likely to be useful thereafter. In this way I collected a considerable mass of information, which has greatly facilitated my official labours.
