During the past 20 years, 25 states and the District of Columbia have legalized cannabis and/or cannabidiol (a component of cannabis) for medical conditions or retail sales at the state level and 4 states have legalized both the medical and recreational use of cannabis. I was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer which was quickly spreading through my body. I was told that if I did not have an operation to remove the tumor that I would surely die. However, if I consented to have the operation I would have had to wear a colostomy bag. I was afraid of the outcome and refused. Besides, there was no guarantee of success. It was all chance taking.
