Book Description
Although non-financial or Corporate Social Responsibiliy (CSR) reporting has attracted increasing attention in the last decades, it only recently entered the legal discourse. This book narrows the gap between CSR reporting and legal disclosure requirements. It analyzes financial, management, and corporate governance reporting, as well as other dedicated reporting types. The author investigates what legal framework underpins these disclosure types; to what extent these instruments mandate the disclosure of non-financial information; and if they have potential to expand their non-financial disclosure requirements. The findings suggest that mandatory non-financial reporting is less developed than expected. This book will be of interest to policy-makers who need to transpose the Non-Financial Reporting Directive or provide guidance on it. In addition, non-financial reporting professionals will find this monograph useful in exploring the underlying issues of preparing non-financial reports and understanding to what extent legal requirements are enforceable. (Series: ?Dovenschmidt Monographs, Vol. 4) [Subject: EU?Law, Corporate Law

Developing Corporate Social Responsibility
Author: Francesco Perrini
Publisher: Edward Elgar Publishing
ISBN: 9781781958728
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 284
Book Description
'Perrini et al provide a detailed, authoritative look at the evolving European perspective on corporate social responsibility. They show how Europe has moved from follower status to leading edge practice. The book is the best current indicator of what the next stages of CSR will look like.' - Thomas W. Dunfee, University of Pennsylvania, US The rapidly increasing attention devoted to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has resulted in the term 'CSR' being applied to myriad dissimilar phenomena. The authors therefore aim to dispel this confusion by presenting a multi-faceted view of socially responsible corporate behavior and related themes. They provide a conceptualization of CSR that emphasizes the role of the adoption and implementation of specific CSR strategies and their impact on corporate social and economic performance.

Mandated Corporate Social Responsibility
Author: Nayan Mitra
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 303024444X
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 261
Book Description
This book examines the Indian mandate for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its implementations in various individual organizations. The book explores the various facets of CSR investigation and places special emphasis on the Schedule VII of the Indian Companies Act of 2013, which defines specific areas of intervention for these companies. In addition, it provides a wealth of first-hand case studies that exemplify the ongoing developments and the fundamental challenges and opportunities of mandated CSR.

Sustainability and Law
Author: Volker Mauerhofer
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030426300
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 756
Book Description
The book discusses sustainability and law in a multifaceted way. Together, sustainability and law are an emerging challenge for research and science. This volume contributes through an interdisciplinary concept to its further exploration. The contributions explore this exciting domain with innovative ideas and replicable approaches. It combines a variety of authors, from both the public and the private sectors, and thereby guarantees a broad view that enshrines the more theoretical arguments from the academic side as well as stronger practical applicable perspectives. The book provides space for thoughtful expansions of established theories as well as the hopeful emergence of innovative ideas. Moreover, the combination of three to five contributions into the eleven parts respectively aims toward a compression of like minded thoughts. This should lead to an intensification of exchange of viewpoints from different angles on a similar theme. Readers therefore also have the opportunity to concentrate on single chapters, but receive comprised knowledge and a variety of thoughts for new ideas on a particular theme.

Contemporary Issues in Corporate Social Responsibility
Author: Duygu Turker
Publisher: Lexington Books
ISBN: 0739183745
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 206
Book Description
As a result of the industrialization, urbanization, and population increase during the last two centuries, the global landscape has been irreversibly damaged. These anthropological pressures have create endless problems on the global level, and individuals and organizations are beginning to realize their own ever-increasing responsibility to consider the welfare and interests of all stakeholders as a whole. Although the improvements in the legal framework at the national and international level can be viewed as an important step to protect society and the natural environment, a legal course provides a reactive mode of control rather than a proactive approach. Considering its proactive approach and voluntarily basis, the concept of social responsibility can provide a significant tool of generating a sustainable future. During such a paradigm shift, Contemporary Issues in Corporate Social Responsibility presents the significant roles that universities must embrace in order to take charge of the future. In parallel to those movements, many institutions include a course on social responsibility, yet the studies on the education of social responsibility in the literature show that there is no commonly accepted teaching methods and guiding curriculum of CSR. This book was designed based on the outcomes of an Erasmus Intensive Project (IP) which was organized in Yasar University during June 2012 with the contribution of 9 European universities. Based on the interactive feedback of participants during the project, this book sheds light on the ongoing discussion of corporate social responsibility from a European perspective.
