The immune system normally protects the body against viruses, bacteria, and other foreign materials. Systemic Lupus Erythemotosus (usually called, simply, lupus) is a chronic, autoimmune disease which causes inflammation in various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints, blood, and kidneys.
