Book Description
This stunning successor to Ouimet’s debut, I Go Quiet, follows a girl learning to express herself and connect with others. When I am swept into the light of life, I get loud. A girl finds her voice and befriends a stranger, who becomes her closest companion. They speak and sing and laugh, their friendship weathering darkness and light, stormy seas and calm waters. Then, embarking on an uncertain journey to a new land with thousands of others, they become separated. The girl worries that her voice alone is too quiet to find her friend and make herself known—but it’s their voices that lead them back to each other, and that preserve their pasts and pave their future in a new home. The companion to David Ouimet’s acclaimed debut, I Go Quiet, I Get Loud is a poetic and arresting fable about the power of expression and human connection in the face of change.

Book Description
Multiversal, the second book by Amy Catanzano proposing a theory of quantum poetics, invites readers to explore the intersections between language, nature, science, and consciousness. Multiversal takes its name from the "multiverse," a science fiction concept that has become an accepted theory in physics. It suggests that reality comprises multiple dimensions in space and time. In form and content, this collection takes novelapproaches to the materiality of language itself, to the spacetime of poems. From the Foreword by Michael Palmer: Amy Catanzano offers us a poetic vision of multiple orders and multiple forms, of a fluid time set loose from linearity and an open space that is motile and multidimensional. The work exists at once in a future-past and in a variety of temporal modes. At one moment the scale is intimate, at another infinite. She interrogates our means of observation and measurement (the telescope, the ice-core), our mappings, our cosmic calculations, our assumptions about cause and effect. In the background, "there is a war being fought," though which of many wars--cultural, scientific, military--we are not told. In a time of displacement such as ours, she seems to say, in place of "universals" we must imagine "multiversals," in place of the fixed, the metamorphic. As much as the frame may be cosmic (micro- or macro-), it is important to remember that the work serves the vital questions of the hereand-now, "the flowering of the world," the corrosiveness of violence, the primacy of desire, the necessity of wonder. Multiversal represents an effort to see things as they are through an act of poetic reimagining, that is, to see variously within the folds and fields of the actual, where the physis, or life force, resides.

Book Description
Kalyani Magazine's fourth issue: Private Out Loud. Kalyani Magazine is the literary magazine by women of color. As women, especially as women of color, privacy - the kind that often keeps you screaming or whispering until your grave - is a natural part of life. Sometimes we keep things secret from the "community," from our loved ones, or even from ourselves. But often this privacy cracks. Maybe by accident, and maybe when we emerge kicking and screaming. Sometimes our secrets end up in front of others, whether they see us or not. And sometimes, when the armor cracks, even we can't believe what we see. These are the moments we are private out loud. We are fortunate to get to feature artist Cheryl Clarke - activist, poet, lesbian, an amazing woman. She talks about the Black Arts Movement in the 60s and on Private Out Loud as a writer: "[P]eople make a mistake if they think the poetry is personal. It's not. It's following Audre Lorde's directive around breaking the silence."
