Short daily entries are written in clear writing and include annotations in the margins. Entries mostly mention wind speed and direction, barometer reading, temperature, longitude and latitude. Many entries mention ice, whales, and other vessels. An April 6 entry describes an incident when boatswain Thomas Fisher was put in irons for disobeying the order not to go on board another vessel.
