La gutta-percha est un isomère du caoutchouc utilisé en endodontie pour l'obturation des canaux radiculaires. Elle a autrefois largement été employée dans l'art, l'industrie, les sciences et l'odontologie. La gutta-percha existe sous deux formes cristallines, alpha et bêta. Les cônes de gutta-percha sont sous forme bêta mais de nouvelles gutta-percha sous forme alpha sont apparues et présentent des propriétés intéressantes pour notre pratique en endodontie comme une température de fusion basse, une viscosité élevée et des propriétés adhésives Les principales techniques d'obturation utilisent les propriétés viscoplastiques de la gutta-percha sous forme bêta ou sous forme alpha pour obturer de façon étanche, tridimensionnelle le système canalaire. Un nombre important d'expérimentations sur la gutta-percha sont réalisées mais peu d'auteurs ont étudié la gutta-percha par calorimétrie différentielle à balayage. C'est pourquoi nous avons voulu soumettre différents échantillons de gutta-percha dont la gutta-percha en phase alpha à l'analyse en DSC. Nous avons analysé les échantillons Kent, Autofit®, Mynol®, Maillefcr®, Tbermafil®, ainsi qu'un nouveau matériau d'obturation canalaire qui n'est pas de la gutta-percha mais une résine thermoplastique, le Resilon® et nous avons pu en ressortir différents résultats dont les températures de transition vitreuse, les pics de fusion et de cristallisation ainsi que les chaleurs latentes de fusion et de cristallisation des échantillons.
