Letters to Michael
Author: Sharon Ackland Miller with Lynn Casassa
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 239
Book Description
A deeply heartfelt story of a mother and son who were brought together in God's perfect time. Medical challenges were turned into assets from which even outsiders benefited. A child, developing into a thoughtful young man, who accepted his situation, early death, and who, strengthened by his growing belief in Jesus, developed special insights to the needs of others. Would you adopt an eight-year-old boy with muscular dystrophy, who had been abandoned and abused, and who would likely not live into his twenties? Sharon Miller and her husband did. This is an extraordinary story based on loving memories tied together by deep faith. Written in the form of letters, Sharon unfolds one fascinating story after another while showing both her and Michael's maturing reliance on Jesus. Each chapter will lead you to understand how a mother's childhood dream turned into an eight-year adventure of joy, learning, and profound faith. This book will open your heart. --Lynn Casassa

Byron's Letters and Journals
Author: Richard Lansdown
Publisher: OUP Oxford
ISBN: 0191044776
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 667
Book Description
Alongside Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters, and Oscar Wilde, Lord Byron possesses a star-quality unlike other classic British authors. His life as poet, philanderer, homosexual, and freedom fighter is legendary, and this new selection from his powerful letters and journals tells the story from the inside, in Byron's own racy and passionate style. Though Byron is chiefly known as a poet, his letters and journals are one of the glories of English prose literature, and one of the greatest British acts of autobiography, alongside Pepys' Diary and Boswell's Journal. This new selection, taken from the authoritative and unbowdlerized edition prepared by Leslie Marchand in the 1970s, not only provides the cream of his informal prose; it amounts to a biography in Byron's own words. No other English writer lived so remarkable an existence, from rented rooms in Aberdeen to a Nottinghamshire peerage, from European fame to English infamy, and notorious Italian exile to a glorious death in the Greek War of Independence. The letters and journals are selected, introduced, and annotated to provide a running narrative of the life and career of his remarkable man in his own unmistakable words.

The Letters
Author: Michael Biggs
Publisher: AudioInk Publishing
ISBN: 1613395035
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 269
Book Description
If God were to write you a letter, in 200 words or less, what might it say? Would it be full of harshness, pointing out all your faults and wrong-doings? Would it be a laundry list of things you should have done, or should be doing, places to go, or people to see? In The Letters, my hope is that you will see the God of hope, grace and encouragement. He is not the ogre that we are sometimes led to believe he is.As you read these letters, you will discover a God who knows your name, He knows what you like (pecan pie), what you are good at (drums and ping-pong), what you dislike (broccoli) and what makes you happy (seeing your loved one at the end of your day). And most of all, you will discover a God who not only loves you, but is very, very fond of you. Some will use this book as a nightly read. Some might find it to be a valuable group-study book. Others will dip into it from time to time when dealing with issues. Some in lands outside the borders of America will read this and perhaps wonder at the images of God presented here. For all of you, you were kept in mind whether you were born in Africa, America, Russia, Dubai, or Des Moines. May you delight in discovering a God of great grace and mercy who always has you in his sights.

The Book of Say
Author: Ben Shepherd
Publisher: Gatekeeper Press
ISBN: 1662947739
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 472
Book Description
A Father’s rare blood disease cannot be healed by evangelical faith in the early 1980’s. As he leaves for treatment on the AIDS wing of the National Institutes of Health, his young son Finn goes to live in the homes of strangers in the rural South. Carrying his red fireman’s bag as a metaphor for his Father’s disease, Finn listens to his emotions about who is Good and who is Evil—conflicted as to why a loving God will not provide a miracle of healing, or heat, or food, or the love of a Mother. Sent to live with an Elderly couple in their rustic cabin on Panther Mountain, Finn is shown and taught the ways of the Native Cherokee that lived in the meadow. In the lantern glow of deep conversations, he learns that love is a fountain whose only business is to flow. Finn witnessed the handwritten letters of Jon and Elizabeth and their promise to each other to be reincarnated as Doves. Finn returns to the Wheat Hill House in grief. Wishing his Stepmother would be content only to break his bones. He becomes a caretaker for his Father, who is desperate to buy a pardon from God. Finn returns to the mountain when his Father returns to the National Institutes of Health. Introduced to the Beloved Community, he learns how plants heal themselves. The history of the Cherokee, Skyuka, and the Elder Fire becomes real as he uncovers artifacts on the mountain. He realized that the universal language of every heart is truth and that all who love are born of God. Eternal life is not merited but measured in how much love we leave behind. Though, at times, Evil does kill the Chiefs of Peace, time has never stopped seeing them being born.

Letters from Iran
Author: Arlene Elle Gray
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1477146318
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 322
Book Description
Having a daughter serving in the Peace Corps, prompted me to publish, Letters from Iran, written forty years ago. The experiences of mine remain relevant today. The complex world with its problems is much like the situation forty years ago. These letters express the adjustment from being a strange foreigner, to becoming a beloved friend within the sphere of the friends, neighbors and acquaintances made while serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Babol, Iran from 1970-1972. I am now the age my parents were when these letters were written. I am facing retirement and aging and feel gratitude for the example my parents gave me of living vibrantly into old age. Both Mom and Dad lived into their nineties, proof that an active lifestyle maintains quality of life. Living for twenty five months in Iran changed my life, changed my attitudes about foreigners and deepened my philosophy that people are basically good. Learning the language, the customs, living among the people made this possible. I am deeply grateful to the friends mentioned in these letters. Contact with the Iranian families was lost within a year. Desire to return for a visit to Iran lingers in my heart. Christmas letters have kept me in touch with the Collins family. My sisters and I remain close. I married David Gray six weeks after returning to the States on furlough. We are blessed with four children; Mark Irving, Stephanie Ann, Brian Leroy and Timothy Alan. Our home is in Bismarck, North Dakota.
