Book Description
This is a collection of eleven relatively brief documents, mostly of papal origin, which deal with the establishment of the church in Scandinavia. They deal with the establishment of the mission at Hamburg, under Imperial protection, and the attempt to extend this mission diocese into the untamed lands of Sweden and Denmark. While the Christianization of the Nordic countries begins under this period, it will not be fully realized for another century when the centralized monarchies of these nations adopted the cross and accepted baptism themselves.

Book Description
The seven churches of the book of Revelation each got mail from Jesus. These letters outlined their weaknesses and their strengths, and also encouraged them in their trials. These churches saw themselves through God's eyes; saw what made Him glad and what made Him angry. And now we've got mail too. Letters to the Churches is based on the 2002 Spring Harvest theme You've Got Mail, and can be used in conjunction with the 2002 Study Guide. It covers material on Revelation chapters 1, 2 and 3 and encourages small groups and individuals to put their faith into action. Containing material and ideas for eight sessions, each study focuses on one subject, which is split into different sections for easy access. From aims to application, the studies make use of relevant and recent media which help to ground the Bible study within contemporary bounds. Letters to the Churches applies the words of Jesus Christ to today's church, and shows how it can shape and challenge us, giving us a new sense of purpose and direction for life.

Book Description
When Martin Luther's protest began making an impact in Scandinavia in the 1520s, this region belonged to the religious and political periphery of Europe. A century later the Nordic countries had become of paramount importance to European Protestantism, and it was the intervention of Lutheran Scandinavia in the Thirty Years' War which helped secure the survival of European Protestantism. This volume describes how the Nordic countries came to be solidly Lutheran states by the early seventeenth century; how the evangelical movements differed and succeeded, and the different pace of reform and its institutionalisation. It offers a revisionist view of the role of the Catholic Church in Scandinavia, and its attempts to halt the reformation, and demonstrates the difficulties facing the new Lutheran churches trying to convert a conservative, peasant population to Protestantism.
