Opportunity had thus been afforded me of commending Christ, though in much weakness. Satan, however, the enemy of all good, quickly appeared to fight against the cause of Christ. Too soon did he rouse himself, and set his servants to work. " The Jews in Pesth were speedily informed that I had opened a school, and it became the topic of daily conversation. The Rabbi harangued publicly in the synagogue against the school, and, as I have been told, besought with tears the parents to withdraw their children from it, else the seeds of destruction would be sown in the hearts of their little ones.
