Il existe en France un paradoxe entre une libre diffusion de la contraception et un taux important d'échecs contraceptifs chez les adolescentes de 15 à 19 ans. L'objectif de cette étude était de déterminer les obstacles rencontrés par ces adolescentes dans l'accès à la contraception. L'objectif secondaire était d'évaluer leurs attentes concernant le médecin généraliste. Il s'agit d'une étude qualitative exploratrice par entretiens individuels semi dirigés auprès d'adolescentes résidant en Haute-Loire. L'échantillon d'adolescentes de 15 à 19 ans était diversifié et raisonné. Les interviews se sont déroulées dans leur lieu de vie professionnel. L'analyse a été effectuée selon une méthode thématique dans un but explicatif avec triangulation des analyses. Les principaux obstacles à la contraception retrouvés étaient le manque de communication avec le partenaire et les parents, les difficultés financières et pratiques d'accès à la consultation et au traitement, la crainte de l'absence de secret médical ou de confidentialité et la peur de l'examen gynécologique lors de la première prescription. Le manque de connaissances sur les moyens de contraception ou leur utilisation, les préjugés sur les contraceptifs ainsi que le contexte des premiers rapports étaient également retrouvés. Les adolescentes souhaitaient que leur médecins généralistes aborde spontanément le sujet de la sexualité en consultation, qu'il les conseille et les informe sur la contraception. Sensibiliser les médecins généralistes aux difficultés que rencontrent les adolescentes pour parler de contraception pourrait les encourager à mettre en confiance les jeunes filles et à aborder le sujet en consultattion. La connaissance des obstacles rencontrés par ces adolescentes dans l'accès à la contraception pourrait permettre de mieux adapter les interventions auprès de jeunes filles, en cabinet médical ou en milieu scolaire.

This book examines the nature and significance of the impact of population growth on the weIl-being of developing countries-in particular, the effects on economic growth, education, health, food supply, housing, poverty, and the environment. In addition, because family planning programmes often significantly affect population growth, the study examines the impacts of family planning on fertility and health, and the human rights implications of family planning programmes. In considering the book's conclusions about the impact of population growth on development, four caveats should be noted. First, the effects of population growth vary from place to place and over time. Thus, blanket statements about overall effects often cannot be made. Where possible, the authors note the contexts in which population effects are strongest and weakest. Second, all of the outcomes examined in this book are influenced by factors other than population growth.
