En mars 2016, s’est tenue à l’Inalco une journée d’étude internationale intitulée « Les premières étapes dans l’acquisition d’une langue étrangère : dialogue entre acquisition et didactique des langues ». Cette journée d’étude avait pour objectif de créer les conditions d’un dialogue entre deux disciplines connexes, celles de l’acquisition des langues étrangères et de la didactique des langues étrangères. Pour cela, nous avons pris le parti d’orienter les interventions et débats autour d’un sujet délimité et commun à tous les participants, celui des premières étapes dans l’acquisition des langues étrangères. Nos intervenants ont été invités à réagir à un texte commun de référence, basé sur certains résultats du projet de recherche intitulé Varieties of Initial Learners in Language Acquisition (VILLA) et à présenter leurs conceptions en fonction de leurs orientations scientifiques personnelles. Le présent volume est le résultat de ces interactions.
