Son muy numerosos los artículo y conferencias en los que dejó planteados los problemas sobre el alcance científico de la antropología social, y en este sentido sus “reflexiones” siguen siendo referencia inexcusable para la discusión metacientífica. La presente edición no pretende ser mera reconstrucción filológica de la temática antropológica tratada por E-P, sino “reflexión de segundo grado” capaz de organizar críticamente los diferentes niveles en los que mueve su obra. El prisma filosófico desde el que dicha tarea se aborda, es el de la Teoría del Cierre Categorial desarrollada por el filósofo español Gustavo Bueno. La estructura social de los shilluk nilóticos está considerada a través de su concepto de la monarquía divina. Los cinco artículos dedicados a los zande constituyen una muestra de los trabajos de campo llevados a cabo por el autor. “Reyes y príncipes zande” es un modelo de cómo se han de afrontar este tipo de tareas, complementado por la descripción de las ideas que los zande tienen con respecto a la concepción y a la gestación, o por el relato de las ceremonias del pacto de sangre o los comentarios sobre las diferentes situaciones en que los zande actúan en relación a su dios y de cómo sus ideas acerca de él se asocian con otras nociones contenidas en su cultura. The island of Sicily was a highly contested area throughout much of its history. Among the first to exert strong influence on its political, cultural, infrastructural, and demographic developments were the two major decentralized civilizations of the first millennium BCE: the Phoenicians and the Greeks. While trade and cultural exchange preceded their permanent presence, it was the colonizing movement that brought territorial competition and political power struggles on the island to a new level. The history of six centuries of colonization is replete with accounts of conflict and warfare that include cross-cultural confrontations, as well as interstate hostilities, domestic conflicts, and government violence.
