These comprise free treatment, the introduction of conservancy, and the dissemination of knowledge of the disease amongst the natives. Such measures would appear, however, to be of little value in the control of bilharziosis, for the following reasons. Of the control filtrate was added to broth. The control after seven days' incuba tion at 27 C. Showed no growth, but in forty-eight hours blue colonies appeared in the glucose plates. These colonies when tested in the usual media again failed to ferment any sugar and produced an alkaline reaction in milk.
