Of the control filtrate was added to broth. The control after seven days' incuba tion at 27 C. Showed no growth, but in forty-eight hours blue colonies appeared in the glucose plates. These colonies when tested in the usual media again failed to ferment any sugar and produced an alkaline reaction in milk.
