Category : Exercise therapy

Book Description
The Modern Interpretation of an Ancient Internal Alchemy Manual "Yellow Court Classic" (or "Jade Writing", as the text refers to itself) is one of the core classic manuscripts of the Taoist cannon. Even though this Third Century text has been extensively used in the Alchemy Practice in China (especially in the Highest Purity school) and referenced in many later classics (such as "The Secret of the Golden Flower", by Lu Dong Bin), the present book presents its first full translation to English. The term "Yellow Court" literary means the central area of the Emperor's Castle, that is open to the Heaven above and connects the Chambers of different Ministries of the Country. Its multifaceted symbolic meaning indicates, in different contexts, center of the body (Dan Tian), spleen as the center of five main viscera (in Traditional Chinese Medicine), a whole human body, or even the overall potentials of the manifestation of the Individual, that includes his or her field of interaction with an environment. This Manuscript provides detailed meditation and visualization instructions, and should be, according to Taoist lore, recited by a practitioner (original Chinese verses, also provided in the current book, sound very melodic) until understood and integrated thoroughly. An adept practitioner would thus develop deep understanding of the own physical and mental functions and abilities to correct and cultivate them to a higher perfection, or according to text: "Dispense thousand troubles and heal hundred diseases, become immune even to fierceness of a tiger and cruelty of wolves and capable to refuse the aging forever". The translation and commentary of the text, developed for the purpose of personal practice, is very contemporary and concentrated on the philosophical understanding and practical use in modern times (commentaries take into account some latest scientific views of the Universe) rather than religious, historical or aesthetic aspects of the work. As the full Chinese version (along with Pinyin and word-by-word English translation) of the ancient manuscript is provided, every reader should be also able to an independent study and discover the benefits according to the own, unique aspirations.

Yellow Court
Author: Patrick Gross
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN: 9781542393867
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 450
Book Description
The Yellow Court Series focuses on the monumental and influential Taoist teachings of the Yellow Court Scriptures, which are divided into two books simply known as the External Illumination (attributed to Lao Zi, sixth century BCE) and the Internal Illumination (composed by Madame Wei Huacun, 251-334 CE, founder of the Highest Clarity Sect). The Yellow Court teachings were the first Taoist texts to describe the methods of Internal Alchemy through meditation and Qigong methods, as opposed to the earlier metallurgical processes of External Alchemy. The Yellow Court texts approach the idea of gaining health, longevity, and immortality through the imagery of interior spirits, which can be perceived in terms of consciousnesses or physiological energies of the body. Without question, the teachings of the Yellow Court form the very foundation of all Internal Alchemy practices that gained in popularity since the Tang dynasty until modern times. Madame Wei's landmark presentation of the Yellow Court teachings created a new insurgence of Taoist thought and popularity for over six hundred years, and they are as viable today as they were in China's past. Volume One in the series features Stuart Alve Olson's translations of the External Illumination text and the commentary of Wu Chengzi (a Tang dynasty Taoist scholar and adept), along with his translator's notes and explanations of the many cryptic Taoist terms used within the original texts. The External Illumination is an incredible source guide for anyone interested in Taoist meditation, Qigong, and philosophy. It forms the structure from which Madame Wei Huacun expanded the teachings and practices in her Internal Illumination work (featured in Volume Two of the Yellow Court Series). The Yellow Court Series not only presents the insights and instructions for practicing the teachings of the Yellow Court, but it provides a wealth of information that will definitely redefine and clarify much of our present-day notions on any method of meditation and Qigong being taught today, as almost every Internal Alchemy and Qigong teaching has borrowed some aspect from the Yellow Court Scriptures since they appeared in the fourth century.
