La Historia Social de las Instituciones Punitivas está necesitada en España de encuentro y debate, de confrontación y colaboración entre investigadores e investigadoras. Solo así logrará hacerse visible e inteligible como tendencia historiográfica y sobre todo como apuesta teórico-metodológica, porque de hecho ya es más que creíble como práctica historiográfica. Aquí, en este libro, junto a los logros también se perfilan las carencias y los retos más acuciantes. Lejos de buscar una autonomía extemporánea, la Historia Social de las Instituciones Punitivas quiere buscar su propia viabilidad a base de intersecciones y buenas mezclas. Esos objetivos se planteaba el Grupo de Estudio sobre la Historia de la Prisión y las Instituciones Punitivas (GEHPIP) ―un equipo interuniversitario y con sede en la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM)― al organizar lo que de forma homónima decidió titular I Congreso Internacional sobre Historia de la Prisión y las Instituciones Punitivas, celebrado en Ciudad Real entre el 10 y el 12 de abril de 2013. El libro electrónico que aquí se presenta es una buena muestra de lo que allí se comunicó y discutió. Social History of Punitive Institutions in Spain needs meetings and discussions, comparison and collaboration between researchers. Only then it will become visible and intelligible as a historiographical trend and, above all, as a theoretical-methodological hope, because in fact, now it is more than conceivable as a historiographical practice. Here in this book are outlined, along with the achievements, the shortcomings and the most pressing challenges. Far from seeking an extemporaneous autonomy, Social History of Punitive Institutions wants to try to find its own feasibility based on intersections and good mixings. Those objectives were considered by the Study Group about History of Prison and Punitive Institutions (Grupo de Estudio sobre la Historia de la Prisión y las Instituciones Punitivas, GEHPIP) –an interuniversity team and with central office at Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM)– when organising what it decided to name in an homonymous way 1st International Congress on History of Prison and Punitive Institutions (I Congreso Internacional sobre Historia de la Prisión y las Instituciones Punitivas), held in Ciudad Real (Spain) from 10 to 12 April 2013. El propósito del presente trabajo es determinar las causas que generan una calidad ambiental inadecuada en espacios interiores de vivienda y oficinas, los factores de diseño que inciden en la presencia de estas causas así como los métodos de permitan evaluar a cada uno de ellos. Para lograr esta meta se utilizaron diversos diagramas para visualizar la problemática de la falta de calidad ambiental. Posteriormente se procedió a describir cada uno de los contaminantes incluyendo una breve descripción, sus efectos, fuentes, concentración máxima recomendada, método de evaluación y recomendaciones al respecto. Con base en esta información y los diagramas se elaboró una matriz de relaciones entre causas y factores de diseño. El objeto de esta última es precisar la importancia relativa que tiene cada uno de los factores arquitectónicos (humedad, ventilación, etc) en la incidencia de las causas. Esto con el fin de proveer al constructor de una guía que le permita llevar a cabo un análisis y diseño de espacios más objetivo y seguro. Además, se destaca la importancia de la evaluación en todo proyecto así como la utilización de una metodología de análisis apropiada. Se analizaron varios métodos de evaluación con el fin de recomendar el más apropiado. El método elegido es el de Evaluación Post-Ocupación, debido a su adaptación a las tipologías que se estudian en este trabajo, así como su potencialidad de incluir variables de análisis para la calidad ambiental en interiores. El análisis de causas y factores se limita a condiciones normales de uso, excluyendo situaciones excepcionales que pueden generarse como consecuencia de un incendio o algún otro evento infrecuente. Además, se concentra en el análisis técnico de elementos, omitiendo el análisis de sicología ambiental, excepto cuando éste es imprescindible para el primero. Entre los resultados más importantes del presente estudio sobresale la capacidad de control que puede ejercer el diseñador en la consecución de espacios con una alta calidad ambiental.

On October 14-19, 1990, the 6th International Conference on the Conservation of Earthen Architecture was held in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Sponsored by the GCI, the Museum of New Mexico State Monuments, ICCROM, CRATerre-EAG, and the National Park Service, under the aegis of US/ICOMOS, the event was organized to promote the exchange of ideas, techniques, and research findings on the conservation of earthen architecture. Presentations at the conference covered a diversity of subjects, including the historic traditions of earthen architecture, conservation and restoration, site preservation, studies in consolidation and seismic mitigation, and examinations of moisture problems, clay chemistry, and microstructures. In discussions that focused on the future, the application of modern technologies and materials to site conservation was urged, as was using scientific knowledge of existing structures in the creation of new, low-cost, earthen architecture housing.
