The expectancy theory of motivation by Victor Vroom was adopted for this study. A conceptual framework that illustrates the relationship between the main variables of the study was also developed. A descriptive survey research design was utilized in this study. The study employed an eclectic research methodology or the quantitative and qualitative mixed methods approach with interviews being discussed qualitatively to support or dispute the findings from the questionnaires and document analysis. The target population was drawn from 15 County Education Officers, 83 schools, 83 head teachers and 562 teachers. Fifteen schools and all their head teachers, 160 teachers and 5 education officers were sampled for the study. The number of teachers per school was obtained using proportionate random sampling while the head teachers were sampled purposively. The researcher used questionnaires, interviews and document analysis and observation checklists as tools for collecting data. Pilot survey was carried out in Kembu Zone in Bomet West Sub County. The study findings revealed that: Teaching and learning materials especially teaching aids were unavailable, classrooms were not conducive for teaching and learning and meals were not provided to teachers in their schools; Head teachers did not reward their teachers when they performed well, neither did they give their teachers trips. Merit certificates were also not given to the teachers once students excelled in their subjects. Cash awards were not also given to teachers once their students did well. Teachers were also not promoted to the next grade once students excelled in their subjects.

Thirty teachers and 50 students were randomly selected from three government secondary schools in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. Data was collected using a well-structured questionnaire. Responses were presented using descriptive statistics and analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient statistical method to confirm the hypotheses generated for the study at 5% probability level. The findings of this study reveal that there is a significant relationship between teachers’ remuneration and quality teaching in Nigeria. Based on the findings of this research study, teachers' remuneration significantly affect both extrinsic and intrinsic motivating factors, increased teacher absenteeism, teachers-students interpersonal relationships as well as commitment to work, consequently contributing to dwindling educational quality and academic performance of primary school students. As such, highly-motivated, well-trained and professionally supported teachers are crucial for an effective education system in Nigeria.

This study investigated the impact of teacher motivation in promoting academic achievement among African American male students in an urban middle school in northeast North Carolina. In this quantitative study, the sample population was comprised of fifty 7th grade students and fifty 8th grade students. Eight teachers, (four science teachers, and four math teachers) both male and female were given the Teacher Efficacy Scale (see Appendix G). The results revealed that there was no relationship between teacher motivation and academic achievement among African American male students. Further research should include similar studies that would examine the impact of teacher motivation on academic achievement among African American male students based on the gender and years of experience of the teacher. The implications of this study will provide a basis for teacher education programs to offer more sensitivity training for all prospective teachers in dealing with the African American male student utilizing quantitative and qualitative research designs. Therefore, more research in this particular field of education is suggested.

The purpose of this research was to compare the influence of management styles of head teacher's on pupils' performance in private and public primary schools in Nakuru municipality at Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E.) level. The study findings revealed that most public primary schools were using democratic and participatory leadership styles as opposed to private primary schools, which were mainly using the autocratic leadership style. Private primary schools were performing better than Public primary schools in K.C.P.E. Most teachers in both private and public primary schools were not comfortable with the prevailing leadership styles and administration standards which negatively influenced student performance in K.C.P.E. Following these findings, the study recommends that the Ministry of Education, School governing bodies, and stakeholders should consider mobilizing and allocating resources towards mitigating the impediments to the effective leadership styles which influence student performance in K.C.P.E.
