Regional Economic Development
Author: Robert J. Stimson
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3662049112
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 378
Book Description
Regional economic development has attracted the interest of economists, geographers, planners and regional scientists for a long time. And, of course, it is a field that has developed a large practitioner cohort in government and business agencies from the national down to the state and local levels. In planning for cities and regions, both large and small, economic development issues now tend to be integrated into strategic planning processes. For at least the last 50 years, scholars from various disciplines have theorised about the nature of regional economic development, developing a range of models seeking to explain the process of regional economic development, and why it is that regions vary so much in their economic structure and performance and how these aspects of a region can change dramatically over time. Regional scientists in particular have developed a comprehensive tool-kit of methodologies to measure and monitor regional economic characteristics such as industry sectors, employment, income, value of production, investment, and the like, using both quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis, and focusing on both static and dynamic analysis. The 'father of regional science', Walter lsard, was the first to put together a comprehensive volume on techniques of regional analysis (Isard 1960), and since then a huge literature has emerged, including the many titles in the series published by Springer in which this book is published.

Author: David J. Robinson
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 1137469277
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 337
Book Description
Prolonged economic downturn is forcing policy makers and professors to examine how to improve economic development. State and regional governments are therefore moving from public sector-led strategies to private sector-led strategies to enact substantial business-friendly policy reforms. This view of growing economic development sparks interest among public policy, public administration, urban planning, and other academic programs to teach about how America goes about implementing economic development strategies at the state and local level. The Energy Economy is a public policy and current affairs focused economics book targeted toward a public policy and current affairs audience. The Business Year: Angola 2024
Author:
Publisher: The Business Year
ISBN:
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 172
Book Description
Angola’s economy stood at the crossroads of transformation throughout 2023, with officials confronting the challenges that have swept the globe of late, including inflationary pressure, while attempting to draw up plans for more sustainable development. The country’s fortunes remain tightly intwined with those of the oil and gas sector, which continues to represent a sizeable portion of GDP. This renders the country susceptible to the undulations of global oil prices, something that will need to change longer term. It is against this backdrop that we teamed up with AIPEX and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Angola (CCIA) to produce this 170-page publication featuring interviews with business leaders from every major sector of the economy, as well as a range of articles and analysis.
