Book Description
In June 1981, six young Croatians in the village of Medjugorje, in the former Yugoslavia, reported that the Virgin Mary had appeared to them. The Medjugorje visionaries say that Mary has returned every day since then, bringing them important messages from heaven to convey to the world. Throughout history, people have reported encountering extraordinary religious experiences-apparitions of the Virgin Mary, visions of Jesus Christ, weeping statues and icons, the stigmata, physical healings and miracles, and experiences of the afterlife-and interpreted them as supernatural in origin. Scholars have often tried to reinterpret such experiences, including those described by the great mystics like Francis of Assisi, Catherine of Siena, and Teresa of Avila, into natural or psychopathological categories, such as hysteria, hallucination, delusion, epileptic seizures, psychosis, the workings of the unconscious mind, or fraud. Are such reductionist explanations valid? Over the past three decades the Medjugorje visionaries have been subjected to extensive medical, psychological, and scientific examination, even while undergoing their visionary experiences. Daniel Klimek argues that the case of Medjugorje affords a rare opportunity to understand a deeper dimension of extraordinary religious phenomena. Presenting and analyzing the scientific studies on the visionaries in juxtaposition with the major scholars and debates surrounding religious experience, Klimek concludes that a multidisciplinary approach grants a more holistic and deeper understanding of such extraordinary religious experiences.

Book Description
A timely and galvanizing work that examines how right-wing evangelical Christians have veered from an admirable faith to a pernicious, destructive ideology. Today’s right-wing Evangelical Christianity stands as the very antithesis of the message of Jesus Christ. In his new book, Christians Against Christianity, best-selling author and religious scholar Obery M. Hendricks Jr. challenges right-wing evangelicals on the terrain of their own religious claims, exposing the falsehoods, contradictions, and misuses of the Bible that are embedded in their rabid homophobia, their poorly veiled racism and demonizing of immigrants and Muslims, and their ungodly alliance with big business against the interests of American workers. He scathingly indicts the religious leaders who helped facilitate the rise of the notoriously unchristian Donald Trump, likening them to the “court jesters” and hypocritical priestly sycophants of bygone eras who unquestioningly supported their sovereigns’ every act, no matter how hateful or destructive to those they were supposed to serve. In the wake of the deadly insurrectionist attack on the US Capitol, Christians Against Christianity is a clarion call to stand up to the hypocrisy of the evangelical Right, as well as a guide for Christians to return their faith to the life-affirming message that Jesus brought and died for. What Hendricks offers is a provocative diagnosis, an urgent warning that right-wing evangelicals’ aspirations for Christian nationalist supremacy are a looming threat, not only to Christian decency but to democracy itself. What they offer to America is anything but good news.

A noted science writer argues passionately and persuasively that science and religion are mutually reinforcing ways of experiencing the world--and that words such as God, grace, sacred, and spirituality can retain currency in an age of science, once they have been stripped of their archaic meanings.

Book Description
The sequence of the formation of the universe, including Big-Bang stage, quantum cosmology, quarks and leptons stage, Inflation stage, hadrons stage and atomic nuclei stage are described in the book. Before we examine universe, its important to understand topics such as matter and antimatter, grand unified theory, the Higgs Boson, Feynman diagram, and Supersymmetry which are also discussed here. The mystery of the universe is how the dark energy and dark matter affect the universe expansion. The universe has 70% dark energy and 25% of dark matter. The mystery is that the visible matter is only 5%. In the traditional view of the religion, the world is merely five and a half thousand years old and was created in six days. Science suggests that the world is billions of years old. In this book, we used Euler method, angular momentum, and gravitational attraction to prove that the religion is reinforced over science. Mathematically, all results showed bias in favour of religions.

Book Description
Harvard-educated theologian Gary Kowalski argues that many of the ills of the modern world--from the rise of fundamentalist intolerance to secular society's endless (and empty) search for thrills--stem from the mistaken view that science and faith are antagonists rather than natural allies. Both science and faith, the author suggests, compel us now to move beyond materialism toward an understanding of the world that includes the realities of consciousness and spirit. In the twenty-first century, human beings have less reason than before to feel they hold a privileged or special position in the cosmos, but more cause than ever to feel connected and akin to all that is. Christians and Jews, skeptics and seekers alike will find that this brief, persuasively written volume sheds new light on the old questions, Who are we? Where do we figure in the larger scheme of things? And what can we honestly believe?

Book Description
"People of good will wish to see science and religion at peace. . . . I do not see how science and religion could be unified, or even synthesized, under any common scheme of explanation or analysis; but I also do not understand why the two enterprises should experience any conflict." So states internationally renowned evolutionist and bestselling author Stephen Jay Gould in the simple yet profound thesis of his brilliant new book. Writing with bracing intelligence and elegant clarity, Gould sheds new light on a dilemma that has plagued thinking people since the Renaissance. Instead of choosing between science and religion, Gould asks, why not opt for a golden mean that accords dignity and distinction to each realm? At the heart of Gould's penetrating argument is a lucid, contemporary principle he calls NOMA (for nonoverlapping magisteria)--a "blessedly simple and entirely conventional resolution" that allows science and religion to coexist peacefully in a position of respectful noninterference. Science defines the natural world; religion, our moral world, in recognition of their separate spheres of influence. In elaborating and exploring this thought-provoking concept, Gould delves into the history of science, sketching affecting portraits of scientists and moral leaders wrestling with matters of faith and reason. Stories of seminal figures such as Galileo, Darwin, and Thomas Henry Huxley make vivid his argument that individuals and cultures must cultivate both a life of the spirit and a life of rational inquiry in order to experience the fullness of being human. In his bestselling books Wonderful Life, The Mismeasure of Man, and Questioning the Millennium, Gould has written on the abundance of marvels in human history and the natural world. In Rocks of Ages, Gould's passionate humanism, ethical discernment, and erudition are fused to create a dazzling gem of contemporary cultural philosophy. As the world's preeminent Darwinian theorist writes, "I believe, with all my heart, in a respectful, even loving concordat between . . . science and religion."

Book Description
"I have much more to tell you, but you cannot grasp it now. But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into the whole truth: for He will not speak on His own authority but will tell what is told Him, and will announce to you the things that are to come." --John 16:12,13 (Williams translation) Coping with Evil addresses one of the most important topics for all humanity--evil. The menace of evil seems stronger today than ever before. Can evil be defeated? Do we have the courage even to look at its root causes? Drawing on the spiritual investigations of Rudolf Steiner, Sri Aurobindo, and others and from his own inner work, Bruce McCausland takes us on a fascinating journey into the hidden recesses of this very timely subject, helping us understand and cope with today's events and our daily lives. What is evil? What is its source or sources? How should we view evil and those who perpetrate it? Using what he calls a holoscopic approach, McCausland stresses the importance of how we look at a problem. Traditional means no longer suffice and have proven inadequate to the task. By its very nature, evil is illusive and fraught with emotion. These obstacles must be overcome if we are to succeed in examining this manifold menace in a meaningful, productive manner. But whatever we do, we cannot ignore it. The greatest evil, it has been noted, is indifference toward evil. McCausland discusses the sources of evil in the form of spirit beings--"spiritual adversaries"--called Lucifer and Ahriman. He explains how these two beings interact with each other and with humanity as the two extremes of evil, with goodness in the center. In the end, we discover ways to deal with evil, both as individuals and as a society. In today's climate of fear and its exploitation on every side, the question of evil has become an urgent matter of human survival. Those who watch or read the news can use this guidebook to understand the forces at work behind daily events. It guides the reader through the confusion caused by evil and toward inner freedom.

Book Description
Let me tell you how much fun it is to be a book writer! One of my friends recently said to me, I dont even know anyone whos ever READ a book, let alone WRITE one! I was amused. Well you know its really not so hard to write a book. You just talk about what you feel, and organize your thoughts along the way. At some point, as you stay determined to make it happen, the book comes into the world. For me, now having compiled over 30 book-length manuscripts of various topics and subject matter, I have become more and more inclined to share the way I see the world with others along the way. You might call what I like to write about as having to do with personal philosophy, or individual world view. Everyone has a way they see their world; this book is part of how I see mine. It seems that all kinds of people have something to say about what life is and is not. I am like most people, so am no exception. I have come to enjoy giving such opinions and points of view with just about anyone who will listen. I wrote this book, MY WORLD: The First 50 Years, because I wanted to be sure and document the way life appeared to be to me at the half-century mark in my personal growth and evolution. I did it in a way that enables you to read right through it, or, if you prefer, you can take it slowly, over a one-year span of time, and think about the ideas and thoughts carefully. How you read the book is entirely up to you. Ten years earlier I had written a similar book (Earth Dwelling: An Owners Manual for Life) in order to share thoughts about the meaning and purpose of life. It is amazing the difference that ten years can make! I like to think that I am growing! Gee. Could that be? I sure hope so! People from the worlds of philosophy, religion and the popular culture are anxious to share the way they see the world with others. I have a passion to do that also, and so I wrote this book in order to summarize how things in life appeared to me. I could be way off - you decide for youself. At any rate, my world is MY way of seeing life...in YOUR world, you will see it your special way and that is part of the beauty of this life. Each person is free to see it differently, and that is our basic right to do so. I like that. I actually feel so strongly about what I am saying here that I created a web site (which is called HowIseetheworld.com) to talk about and share ideas with others. Take a look at it some time. Thoughts are powerful, and have a tendency to either make you great, or even destroy you before your time. So, think good thoughts! And enjoy the book as well!
