During each of these battles iisne - Marne Defense, aisne marne Offense (soisscns) and meuse argonne (champagne), the 5th Regiment of Marines distinguished itself as a unit, and for this outstanding service was cited for valor in the Orders of the French Armies of the North and Northeast.
