En las primeras páginas se desarrolla el estado del arte que ayuda a definir los problemas más relevantes que afectan la demora en parada, entendiéndose ésta, como la más influyente en la disminución de la velocidad y capacidad teórica. Posteriormente, se desarrolla la explicación detallada de la teoría que define el modelo de capacidad ampliamente difundido en el Transit Capacity and Quality Service Manual (TCQSM) de los EE. UU., un modelo que admite el ajuste del comportamiento real de la demora en parada observada en campo y ayuda a reescribir la capacidad en los casos estudiados de manera acertada. Se prevé en el estudio, desde sistemas con bajos recursos hasta aquellos con mayor nivel de infraestructura. En concreto, se trata de un material útil basado en las consideraciones más importantes, realizadas por investigadores en el mundo, lo que permite plasmar un análisis robusto en cada sistema analizado. Es bueno resaltar que los resultados apuntan a una exhaustiva modelación de la capacidad asociada a parámetros operativos para precisar, de acuerdo a una demanda en parada, cuál debe ser el sistema más adecuado de implementar en ciudades donde se requiera el autobús, como modo de transporte más viable. Asimismo, en el cierre del documento, se introduce al lector en el conocimiento de buenas prácticas de financiación que han alcanzado éxito, lo que da respuesta a una problemática actual, que representa la sostenibilidad económica de estos sistemas. El ideal del autor, es compartir su experiencia para que el lector logre catalogar en función a la demanda, el sistema e infraestructura más adecuado y, a su vez, aplique la metodología de captación de datos que puede ser ventajosa.
