The East India Company at Home, 1757–1857 explores how empire in Asia shaped British country houses, their interiors and the lives of their residents. 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) was raised in March 1813 at Chudderghat ( now Chaderghat) on the banks of the Musi river in Hyderabad under the auspices of Henry Russell as 1stBattalion, The Russell’s Brigade. After having undergone eight name changes since it’s raising it assumed its present name in April 2004. Ever since its raising, it has covered itself with glory, first as part of the Hyderabad Contingent of the State Forces of the Nizam of Hyderabad, then as part of the forces of the Madras Presidency Army of the East India Company, the Indian Army under the British and finally after Independence, as part of the Indian Army of free India. During its history of over two hundred years, the Battalion has a proud record of having acquitted itself with distinction both at home and abroad in various theatres of operations. Prior to Independence in 1947 individuals of the Battalion had earned 157 awards for Gallantry and Distinguished Service and post-Independence till date 392.

The history of modern architecture as constructed by historians and key texts. Writing, according to Panayotis Tournikiotis, has always exerted a powerful influence on architecture. Indeed, the study of modern architecture cannot be separated from a fascination with the texts that have tried to explain the idea of a new architecture in a new society. During the last forty years, the question of the relationship of architecture to its history—of buildings to books—has been one of the most important themes in debates about the course of modern architecture. Tournikiotis argues that the history of modern architecture tends to be written from the present, projecting back onto the past our current concerns, so that the "beginning" of the story really functions as a "representation" of its end. In this book the buildings are the quotations, while the texts are the structure. Tournikiotis focuses on a group of books by major historians of the twentieth century: Nikolaus Pevsner, Emil Kaufmann, Sigfried Giedion, Bruno Zevi, Leonardo Benevolo, Henry-Russell Hitchcock, Reyner Banham, Peter Collins, and Manfredo Tafuri.
