Regression analysis identified significant factors contributing to variations in food expenditures and family income. Income and family size were among the variables significantly related to food expenditures, while education and family size were among those significantly related to family income.

Nearly 40 percent of the youth were from families where the homemaker was also participating in EFNEP. About 40 percent were black, and an equal percentage were white. Sixty percent were between the ages of 9 and 14 years, and the majority were girls. More than two-thirds of the youth participated on a continuing basis in the 4-H EFNEP and more than 40 percent participated in short-term activities. Primary teaching methods included nutrition games, demonstrations, visual aids, and role playing.
