Book Description
Plain fatigue and fretting fatigue tests were carried out using cast Al-Si aluminum alloy JIS AC4CH-T6 and forged aluminum alloy JIS 6061-T6. Plain fatigue strength of the cast aluminum alloy was lower than that of the forged alloy. The lower fatigue strength was attributed to casting defects such as pores in the cast aluminum alloy, which enhanced fatigue crack formation. On the other hand, fretting fatigue strength of the cast aluminum alloy almost coincided with that of the forged alloy. No difference of tangential force coefficient and then tangential force in fretting fatigue was observed between the two materials. From fatigue crack growth tests and fretting fatigue tests interrupted at various fatigue cycles, fatigue crack growth curves and fretting crack formation life for both materials were also found to coincide with each other. These phenomena and properties resulted in the agreement of fretting fatigue strengths between the cast and forged aluminum alloys.

Book Description
A compilation of data collected and maintained for many years as the property of a large aluminum company, which decided in 1997 to make it available to other engineers and materials specialists. In tabular form, presents data on the tensile and creep properties of eight species of wrought alloys and five species of cast alloys in the various shapes used in applications. Then looks at the fatigue data for several alloys under a range of conditions and loads. The data represent the typical or average findings, and though some were developed years ago, the collection is the largest and most detailed available. There is no index.

Book Description
Room-temperature tensile properties were determined for large 7075-T6 and 7075-T73 aluminum-alloy forgings. Forging sizes ranged from about 1.5 to 15 inches (short-transverse direction) for production forgings and up to 20 inches for step forgings. Heat-treated thickness was 0.75 to 1.000 inch for the T6 temper but ranged up to 10 inches for the T73 temper. Regression coefficients and standard d deviations are presented for three properties (TUS, TYS, and elongation) in each of three test directions. In addition, average values and two statistical minima are tabulated for each property and test direction at each of several discrete sizes, and a comparison is made with the corresponding requirements of Specification MIL-A-22771C(ASG). Book Description
This report presents data on the tensile strength, fatigue strength, creep properties, and thermal expansion of forged aluminum alloys XB18S, 18S, 24S, and 32S, which are pertinent to the application of these alloys in the temperature range from 70 to 800 degrees F. The report also contains a critical discussion of the data and their application to design of aircraft engines.
