He was not given a chance to state his side of the story and his conviction negatively affected his life, profession and his occupation as a teacher. His character and reputation were tainted in toto. It separated him from his family and his parents passed away while he was in prison for a crime he did not commit. This book is all about change or emancipation.

Volume 1 in the new Cambridge World History of Slavery surveys the history of slavery in the ancient Mediterranean world. Although chapters are devoted to the ancient Near East and the Jews, its principal concern is with the societies of ancient Greece and Rome.
