Book Description
A great American architect who lived from 1867 to 1959, Frank Lloyd Wright designed houses, office buildings, museums, churches, a doghouse, and a gas station, always insisting that architecture should be organic. Wright thought that most houses were dark and crowded and constricting: he loved sunlight and freedom of movement, and he believed that the best buildings connected to their environments. His early home designs were very linear (or rectangular), with long roofs that went with the flat expanse of the American prairie. Many of these buildings had art glass windowsmade of countless small pieces of tinted glass held in zinc or brass frames. Those windows and other designs inspired the stickers in this book. Wright was taught about shapes at an early age. He used the circle, square, triangle, and hexagon as the basic shapes to create his buildings and his graphic designs. The square became his most recognized shape, as he set his signature on a red square at the bottom right corner of each drawing he approved. Wright once said, Colors; in paste or crayon, pencil; always a thrill. To this day I love to hold a handful of manycolored pencils and open my hand to see them lying loose upon my palm, in the light. 8 page softcover book with 150 reusable paper stickers (50 different designs) featuring designs by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Book Description
An engaging, kid-friendly exploration of America's leading architect and his work This revised and updated edition of a longstanding classic, Frank Lloyd Wright for Kids, details the life, times, and work of the celebrated architect. Through simple, kid-friendly prose and anecdotes, author Kathleen Thorne-Thomsen describes the influences of Wright's Wisconsin childhood filled with nature, music, and close family ties; his struggles to find work as a young architect; the unique style that led him to the top of his profession; and masterpieces such as the Robie House, Hollyhock House, Fallingwater, the Guggenheim, and many others. Also discussed are Wright's sometimes controversial private and public life and the people and times that influenced him and vice-versa, with new sidebars on topics such as the Chicago and Bauhaus schools of architecture, Friedrich Froebel and his toy blocks that enchanted Wright as a child, and the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Budding architects will delve into architectural and design concepts while having fun through 21 hands-on projects, such as creating an edible model of Fallingwater, making a miniature Japanese kite, reading an architectural plan, and much more. A time line, glossary, bibliography, and list of houses to visit are also included.

Book Description
Book Description: Frank Lloyd Wright's mammoth contribution to architecture is universally acknowledged, but his graphic work has been largely overlooked in the existing literature about this seminal architect. His designs for typography, books, posters, murals, and magazines have remained relatively obscure, even though they are key components of his oeuvre. Penny Fowler has thoroughly investigated the artist's innovative graphic work and placed it within the context of various aesthetic movements, from Arts and Crafts to Bauhaus and De Stijl. Wright's publications - including The House Beautiful and An Autobiography - his delineations for the Wasmuth Portfolio, and his mural designs for Midway Gardens and the Imperial Hotel are explored, and one chapter is devoted to the festive covers Wright created for Liberty magazine. (Wright's designs were considered far too radical from the current trends, so Liberty turned them down.) Now this important part of the artist's work has been succinctly reviewed and amply illustrated. The ten chapters - carefully annotated with endnotes - explore Wright's foray into the world of graphic design, including book design; his influence by international sources; and his visits to Japan and Europe. Exhibitions and publications are included in the last chapter. Frank Lloyd Wright: Graphic Artist suggests that the man's genius simply knew no bounds.
