Book Description
El mundo de hoy en día es fascinante y a la vez misterioso. Por ejemplo, a veces hay ruidos extraños provenientes de las tuberías, de las ventanas o de las puertas. Vemos que enormes y pesados buques trasatlánticos no se hunden al cruzar el mar. Otras veces no podemos explicarnos cómo es que los pájaros pueden volar o cómo es la comunicación entre murciélagos. ¿Será cierto que nadar con delfines es terapéutico? ¿Es conveniente meter una sopa caliente al refrigerador? ¿Se derramará el refresco de un vaso totalmente lleno si le agregamos hielo? ¿Por qué se nos tapan los oídos? ¿Por qué es una experiencia sublime presenciar un concierto en una iglesia? El propósito del eBook Fluidos, ondas y calor es ayudarnos a develar las respuestas a los fenómenos antes mencionados, así como a muchos otros. Además, nos introduce en el maravilloso mundo de la física por medio de podcasts, animaciones, de reflexiones éticas y de la resolución de problemas. p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 13.0px Verdana; color: #101010; -webkit-text-stroke: #101010} span.s1 {font-kerning: none}

Book Description
This open access book summarizes the findings of the VUELCO project, a multi-disciplinary and cross-boundary research funded by the European Commission's 7th framework program. It comprises four broad topics: 1. The global significance of volcanic unrest 2. Geophysical and geochemical fingerprints of unrest and precursory activity 3. Magma dynamics leading to unrest phenomena 4. Bridging the gap between science and decision-making Volcanic unrest is a complex multi-hazard phenomenon. The fact that unrest may, or may not lead to an imminent eruption contributes significant uncertainty to short-term volcanic hazard and risk assessment. Although it is reasonable to assume that all eruptions are associated with precursory activity of some sort, the understanding of the causative links between subsurface processes, resulting unrest signals and imminent eruption is incomplete. When a volcano evolves from dormancy into a phase of unrest, important scientific, political and social questions need to be addressed. This book is aimed at graduate students, researchers of volcanic phenomena, professionals in volcanic hazard and risk assessment, observatory personnel, as well as emergency managers who wish to learn about the complex nature of volcanic unrest and how to utilize new findings to deal with unrest phenomena at scientific and emergency managing levels. Book Description
This book sets out to demonstrate the purpose and critical approach that should be made to all experimental work in physics. It does not describe a systematic course in practical work. The present edition retains the basic outlook of earlier editions, but modifications have been made in response to important changes in computational and experimental methods in the past decade. The text is in three parts. The first deals with the statistical treatment of data, and here the text has been extensively revised to take account of the now widespread use of electronic calculators. The second deals with experimental methods, giving details of particular experiments that demonstrate the art and craft of the experimenter. The third part deals with such essential matters as keeping efficient records, accuracy in arithmetic, and writing good, scientific English. Copyright © Libri GmbH. All rights reserved.
