Book Description
Within a society in which rational analysis and technology have been greatly developed, but which has not known how to translate its material wealth into emotional and spiritual wellbeing, the resurgence of the feminine is ever more necessary, essential and unavoidable. This book is a call and guide for healing and for developing consciousness, of both women and men. It offers tools to integrate feminine values, as well as to humanize our relationships with ourselves, the rest of society and with the environment. It is about waking up to your own true power and your true nature, beyond social and gender conditioning. It is an invitation to go within in order to be in contact with our Divine Human Potential, develop it and then express and externalize it, healing in this way our life and our relationship with Mother Earth. In this voyage of initiation, and as we overcome the repression of the feminine, we dare to explore our most human dimensions, as well as enter into contact with our most vulnerable sides, turning them into allies and true strength. The Resurgence of the Feminine contains an article by Leonard Orr, founder of Rebirthing Breathwork, and a prologue written by Vandana Shiva.

Book Description
“In her new chic outfit, she looks like anything but a stewardess working. But work she does. Hard, too. And you hardly know it.” So read the text of a 1969 newspaper advertisement for Delta Airlines featuring a picture of a brightly smiling blond stewardess striding confidently down the aisle of an airplane cabin to deliver a meal. From the moment the first stewardesses took flight in 1930, flight attendants became glamorous icons of femininity. For decades, airlines hired only young, attractive, unmarried white women. They marketed passenger service aloft as an essentially feminine exercise in exuding charm, looking fabulous, and providing comfort. The actual work that flight attendants did—ensuring passenger safety, assuaging fears, serving food and drinks, all while conforming to airlines’ strict rules about appearance—was supposed to appear effortless; the better that stewardesses performed by airline standards, the more hidden were their skills and labor. Yet today flight attendants are acknowledged safety experts; they have their own unions. Gone are the no-marriage rules, the mandates to retire by thirty-two. In Femininity in Flight, Kathleen M. Barry tells the history of flight attendants, tracing the evolution of their glamorized image as ideal women and their activism as trade unionists and feminists. Barry argues that largely because their glamour obscured their labor, flight attendants unionized in the late 1940s and 1950s to demand recognition and respect as workers and self-styled professionals. In the 1960s and 1970s, flight attendants were one of the first groups to take advantage of new laws prohibiting sex discrimination. Their challenges to airlines’ restrictive employment policies and exploitive marketing practices (involving skimpy uniforms and provocative slogans such as “fly me”) made them high-profile critics of the cultural mystification and economic devaluing of “women’s work.” Barry combines attention to the political economy and technology of the airline industry with perceptive readings of popular culture, newspapers, industry publications, and first-person accounts. In so doing, she provides a potent mix of social and cultural history and a major contribution to the history of women’s work and working women’s activism.

Book Description
Can humans flourish without destroying the earth? In this book, experts on many of the world's major and minor religious traditions address the question of human and earth flourishing. Each chapter considers specific religious ideas and specific environmental harms. Chapters are paired and the authors work in dialogue with one another. Taken together, the chapters reveal that the question of flourishing is deceptively simple. Most would agree that humans should flourish without destroying the earth. But not all humans have equal opportunities to flourish. Additionally, on a basic physical level any human flourishing must, of necessity, cause some harm. These considerations of the price and distribution of flourishing raise unique questions about the status of humans and nature. This book represents a step toward reconciliation: that people and their ecosystems may live in peace, that people from different religious worldviews may engage in productive dialogue; in short, that all may flourish.

Book Description
Mythology expert, author, musician, and scholar Alanna Kaivalya presents a new paradigm that defines the feminine journey for the modern age and empowers women to transcend masculine conditions for success and flourish on their own terms For centuries, women have fought for greater opportunity to make their own choices, build independent lives, craft powerful careers, and exercise their own agency. But has this been the wrong approach? Too often, women have forged paths by following the trajectory laid out by men and emulating what men identify as desirable. Could this be why many women remain unsatisfied and overwhelmed? The Way of the Satisfied Woman offers an alternative path for women, and for anyone who cares to focus more on the feminine than the masculine. The path of the feminine is simply different — exquisite, unique, and integral. Through her extensive knowledge of world mythology, Alanna Kaivalya shows how embodying feminine energy sets us free, relaxes us, and allows us to more completely manifest the things that are most important to us, including connection, communion, and compassion. Kaivalya covers: • definitions of masculine and feminine energies in terms that embrace gender differences and affirm the experience of the modern woman • prominent qualities of the feminine as represented by mythological archetypes and modern psychology • the feminine journey toward satisfaction and how it is both unique and complementary to the well-defined masculine journey • the relationship between masculine and feminine and its manifestations in intimate partnerships • tools for redefining the feminine in modern language, ideas, and arenas, including career, family, success, community, and legacy A necessary antidote to a culture that defines equality as “equal to what men have,” The Way of the Satisfied Woman is a call for reclaiming the extraordinary balance of the feminine way, in both the life of the individual and the wider world.
