Book Description
This book describes the personal and professional wreckage through which people are victims of the so-called mobbing, or psycho-terror at work, which destroys the working capacity and psychological resistance of those who suffer it. You have in your hands a practical self-help guide to recognizing the problem and learning to identify it in time, responding to it proactively rather than reactively. The ways that bullying involves are described, as well as the typical characteristics presented by perpetrators, analyzing the defenses and rationalizations that victims usually develop when faced with bullying and that prevent them from implementing an active response to get out of the problem.

Book Description

Book Description
“Since reading [the book], I have been enthusiastic and impressed by it ... It will undoubtedly be of great use to all staff employed by the EU institutions and agencies interested in knowing their rights and obligations in EU Civil Service Law, as well as to interested practitioners for finding their way into this thrilling area of EU law." Jan Inghelram, Director, Legal Adviser on Administrative Matters of the Court of Justice of the European Union (from the Foreword to the book) This practical commentary interprets EU Staff Regulations on the basis of a rich set of judgments handed down by the EU courts over more than 70 years, complemented by insightful case studies on recent landmark decisions. In addition to presenting key aspects of employment law applicable to officials and other agents of the EU institutions, the book considers future legal developments. Several important areas of Union law meet in the practice of civil service matters: fundamental rights; general principles of EU law; social and labour law; family and tax law; and procedural, administrative, institutional and constitutional law. Mader explores this intersection across chapters covering civil service law context, its legal framework and interpretative principles; it covers procedural and substantial EU civil service law and closes with a chapter on collective EU civil service law. The result is an invaluable English-language commentary by one of the field's leading figures, written for all staff employed by EU institutions (and similar bodies) and for all organisations that apply and interpret EU civil service law, as well as for colleagues working across EU law, civil service and public sector law.

Book Description
While the role of comparative law in the courts was previously only an exception, foreign sources are now increasingly becoming a source of law in regular use in supreme and constitutional courts. There is considerable variation between the practices of courts and the role of comparative law, and methods remain controversial. In the US, the issue has been one of intense public debate and it is still one of the major dividing issues in the discussion about the role of the courts. Contributing to the existing discussion of the use of comparative law in the courts, this book provides an inclusive, coherent, and practical analysis of the relevant law and jurisprudence in comparative law in the courts. It examines the consequences for court procedures and the form of judgments, as well as how foreign sources are drawn upon in private international law, European law, administrative law, and constitutional law as well as before general courts. The book also includes case studies of comparative law used in particular spheres of the law, such as tort law and consumer law. Written by practising judges and lawyers as well as leading academics, this book serves as a central reference point concerning the role of comparative law before the courts.

Book Description
Diva, Prima Donna, Maestro, Virtuoso: creative geniuses with the ability to deliver artistic excellence. However this perception can serve to tilt the balance of power in relationships and to substantiate the notion of artistic temperament; the Master is always right and the Diva must have her way. The artistic genius may be hell to work with but the end result (the art) is exceptional, so behaviour deemed unacceptable in normal circumstances must be tolerated. If the corporate culture in the arts is in thrall to the concept of the artistic genius, then across the various disciplines within the creative sector the prevailing mentality may be subscribing to a set of values that allows, even directly encourages, behaviour and employment conditions that are abusive. Bullying in the Arts argues that this mindset can have a profoundly negative effect in performing arts organisations, permitting managers and other staff to ignore bullying behaviour, as long as the show goes on. Researchers in a range of disciplines and fields have studied workplace bullying and, having witnessed bullying in a number of different arts organisations, Anne-Marie Quigg researched whether the behaviour represented isolated, rare occurrences in specific creative environments or if it was indicative of a more widespread problem in the arts and cultural sector. She discovered the highest level of bullying recorded in any single employment sector in the UK. Bullying in the Arts reveals Dr Quigg's findings, including the personal, organisational, legal and economic consequences of bullying behaviour. Looking at the experiences of countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Sweden, and the United States, this book challenges the notion that the arts are beyond the limitations of the ordinary milieu, exempt from the rules and regulations governing the treatment of employees. Arts managers and professionals, teachers, students and researchers in the arts world, and all those in management or management education, will find here a new model centred on management responses to bullying behaviour, which demonstrates the beneficial effect that knowledgeable, skilled action can have on the outcome of bullying incidents.

Book Description
This book brings together papers presented at the 3rd Conference of Research in Economics and Management (CIREG) held in Morocco in May 2016. With a focus on the challenges of SMEs and innovative solutions, they highlight the contribution of researchers in the fields of business and management, with all their micro and macro-economic aspects. They shed light on the universal scientific vision of the importance of SMEs with answers relevant to their local context and adapted to their specific national situation. The relevance of SME research lies in its heuristic value of analyzing change, rather than in constructing a category, a particularly useful empirical concept. This third volume is focused on marketing and human resources.

Book Description
This volume deals with the construction of categorizations of health at work on the basis of individuals’ perceptions and analyses of the psychosocial health effects at their work. The volume approaches the subject from the point of view of those who have experienced psychosocial risks at work, either by being under constraints themselves or by being witness to such constraints. Each chapter sheds light on their representations by examining how the individuals label these constraints. The book compares official categorizations of psychosocial health effects of work to unofficial categorizations, built or expressed. It shows how taking into account subjective narratives may reinforce existing strategies. By giving a central place to language in the analysis of the representations of psychosocial health at work, the volume provides additional information about the various prevention and coping strategies that can be used for dealing with the issue. Beyond some international comparisons, the book covers various national case studies, including in Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Chechnya, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, and Russia.
