L'enseignement dentaire consiste en un apprentissage essentiellement théorique puis pratique permettant aux étudiants d'acquérir des compétences en matière de traitement clinique des patients. L'autoévaluation doit faire partie de cet enseignement afin que les professionnels de médecine bucco-dentaire soient capables de juger leur travail et de se remettre en question. Or de nombreuses études ont montré que les étudiants sont difficilement capable de s'auto-évaluer. Ces résultats suggèrent donc la nécessité d'accorder une plus grande attention à l'enseignement de l'autoévaluation notamment en odontologie restauratrice. Par conséquent, la mise en place d'un portfolio en odontologie restauratrice serait très utile dans le cadre de l'apprentissage de cette discipline et l'amélioration de ses compétences. Aujourd'hui, il n'existe aucune publication décrivant l'utilisation d'un portfolio en odontologie restauratrice. Le but de cette étude est donc d'évaluer la faisabilité d'un portfolio en odontologie restauratrice grâce à la prise de clichés photographiques après le curetage de la dent puis une fois la restauration réalisée ainsi qu'une radiographie de la dent traitée.

Les séances d'enseignements pratiques tiennent une place cruciale dans l'apprentissage du geste en Odontologie. Le stress ressenti par les étudiants lors des séances notées peut impacter négativement ou positivement leurs performances techniques. Des stratégies pédagogiques basées sur la « gamification » ont été présentées comme des alternatives intéressantes permettant d'améliorer les performances pratiques des étudiants dans le domaine médical, tout en réduisant le stress. A ce jour, aucune étude n'a cependant cherché à mettre en évidence de la « gamification », via une mise en compétition et l'instauration d'un système de récompense, et du stress sur les performances des étudiants en Odontologie. L'objectif principal de ce travail était d'évaluer l'effet du mode d'évaluation sur les résultats obtenus par les étudiants en travaux pratiques. L'objectif secondaire était de mesurer le niveau de stress ressenti par les étudiants en fonction des différents modes d'évaluation et d'évaluer son impact éventuel sur les résultats obtenus. Les étudiants de DFGSO3 de l'UFR des Sciences Odontologiques de Bordeaux ont été répartis en trois groupes (groupe A : condition « notation » ; groupe B : condition « entraînement » ; groupe C : condition « compétition ») pour la réalisation d'une obturation d'un angle incisif au composite sur maquette. Les restaurations ont été hétéro- et auto-évaluées sur la base des critères FDI. Les résultats ont montré que le groupe d'étudiants ayant réalisé leur travail dans le cadre d'une compétition ludique avait présenté de meilleurs résultats que les autres groupes et qu'ils avaient également auto-évalué leur travail de manière plus précise. Par ailleurs, même si les différences en termes de niveau de stress ressenti n'étaient pas statistiquement significatives, cette étude a mis en évidence que ces mêmes étudiants s'étaient sentis moins stressés que ceux des autres groupes, ce qui pourrait expliquer à la fois leur meilleure performance et la meilleure précision de leur auto-évaluation, conformément à ce qui est retrouvé dans la littérature.
