Book Description
This report presents a cost analysis of Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) production from carbon dioxide (CO2) using an electrochemical process. The process examined is similar to Liquid Light process. In this process, CO2 is electrochemically converted to oxalic acid, which is then hydrogenated to MEG.This report examines one-time costs associated with the construction of a United States-based plant and the continuing costs associated with the daily operation of such a plant. More specifically, it discusses:* Capital Investment, broken down by: - Total fixed capital required, divided in production unit (ISBL); infrastructure (OSBL) and contingency - Alternative perspective on the total fixed capital, divided in direct costs, indirect costs and contingency - Working capital and costs incurred during industrial plant commissioning and start-up* Production cost, broken down by: - Manufacturing variable costs (raw materials, utilities) - Manufacturing fixed costs (maintenance costs, operating charges, plant overhead, local taxes and insurance) - Depreciation and corporate overhead costs* Raw materials consumption, products generation and labor requirements* Process block flow diagram and description of industrial site installations (production unit and infrastructure)This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s):US Patents 20140221684 and 20140206895, both issued to Liquid Light in 2014Keywords: Ethylene Glycol, Fiber Grade, Hydrogen Bromide, Bromine, 1,2-Ethanediol

Book Description
This report presents a cost analysis of Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) production from ethylene This process consists of a two-steps process. First, ethylene is oxidized with oxygen to produce ethylene oxide, which is further hydrolyzed to MEG. Diethylene glycol (DEG) and triethylene glycol (TEG) are also generated as by-products in the process. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): (1) "Ethylene Oxide", Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, 7th edition (2) "Ethylene Glycol", Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, 7th edition Keywords: Ethene, Shell Master, Scientific Design, Oxidation, Dow METEOR

Book Description
This report presents a cost analysis of Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) production from ethylene. The process examined is similar to Shell OMEGA process. In this process, ethylene is first oxidized with oxygen to produce ethylene oxide. Part of the ethylene oxide generated is sold as a by-product and the remaining part is converted to MEG as the final product. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): (1) US Patent 8329959, issued to Shell in 2012 (2) US Patent 8217190, issued to Shell in 2012 Keywords: Ethene, Shell, OMEGA, Only MEG Advantage, Oxidation, Catalytic Process

Book Description
This report presents a cost analysis of Polyethylene Furanoate (PEF) production starting from glucose and monoethylene glycol (MEG). The process examined is similar to the Avantium YXY process, followed by a process that copolymerizes FDCA and MEG. In this process, a 70 wt% glucose-water syrup feed is isomerized to fructose. Then, fructose is converted to methoxy methyl furan (MMF) intermediate, which is oxidized to FDCA. This process generates methyl acetate and methyl levulinate as by-products. The FDCA generated and MEG are polymerized to PEF in two polymerization steps in order to obtain Bottle-Grade PEF. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): (1) US Patent 8519167, issued to Furanix Technologies B.V. in 2013 (2) US Patent 20160024039, issued to Furanix Technologies B.V. in 2016 (3) WO Patent 2015137807, issued to Furanix Technologies in 2015 Keywords: Polyethylene Furanoate, PEF, Green FDCA, Hydroxyl Methyl Furfural, HMF, Purified Terephthalic Acid, Polyethylene 2,5-Furandicarboxylate, MEG

Book Description
The reconciliation of economic development, social justice and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is one of the biggest political challenges of the moment. Strategies for mitigating CO2 emissions on a large scale using sequestration, storage and carbon technologies are priorities on the agendas of research centres and governments. Research on carbon sequestration is the path to solving major sustainability problems of this century a complex issue that requires a scientific approach and multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary technology, plus a collaborative policy among nations. Thus, this challenge makes this book an important source of information for researchers, policymakers and anyone with an inquiring mind on this subject.

Book Description
The first edition of this manual appeared in 1992 and was entitled ECAT Assay Procedures. It was the result of a unique cooperation between experts brought together by the European Concerted Action on Thrombosis and Disabilities (ECAT). The Concerted Action was at that time under the auspices of the Commission of the European Union. The second edition, like the first edition, deals with diagnostic tests within the field of thrombosis. However, the second edition has a broader scope because it is no longer limited by the frontiers of ECAT. Experts allover the world, in and outside ECAT, have contributed to this edition. The editors are very grateful for their contributions. The need for a new edition is obvious. Since 1992 new assays have been introduced for research, diagnosis, and therapy of thrombosis; for other assays improvements have been suggested, while a few others became redundant. The editors waived the radioimmunoassays of ~-thrombog1obulin and platelet factor 4 due to the fact that the kits required for these assays are rarely, or no longer, available. Also the PAI-1 activity assay was waived as it is liable to many inconsistencies and to large variations. A list of names and addresses of manufacturers marketing the kits and reagents has been compiled, together with a list of the recommended nomenclature of quantities in thrombosis and haemostasis, in order to facilitate the use of the updated version. These lists have been carefully compiled by Johannes J. Sidelmann, PhD, Department of Clinical Biochemistry in Esbjerg, Denmark.
