Coal Bed Methane
Author: Pramod Thakur
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0128159979
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 460
Book Description
Coal Bed Methane: Theories and Applications, Second Edition, captures the full lifecycle of a coal bed methane well and offers petroleum geologists and engineers a single source for a broad range of coal bed methane (CBM) applications. The vast coal resources in the United States continue to produce tremendous amounts of natural gas, contributing to a diverse range of energy assets. This book addresses crucial technical topics, including exploration and evaluation of coal bed reservoirs, hydraulic fracturing of CBM wells, coal seam degasification, and production engineering and processing, among others. The book also covers legal issues and permitting, along with an economic analysis of CBM projects. This new edition includes information on new and established research and applications, making it relevant for field geologists and engineers, as well as students.

Practical Petroleum Geochemistry for Exploration and Production
Author: Harry Dembicki
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0323959237
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 426
Book Description
Practical Petroleum Geochemistry for Exploration and Production, Second Edition provides readers with a single reference that addresses the principle concepts and applications of petroleum geochemistry used in finding, evaluating, and producing petroleum deposits. The revised volume includes a new chapter on environmental forensic applications of petroleum geochemistry. With the current emphasis on environmental issues (pollution, climate changes, and corporate responsibility), information about how petroleum geochemistry can be used to recognize these problems, determine their source, help identify who is responsible, and how these problems may be mitigated are vital to efficient and economical operation of a project from exploration to production to abandonment. Practical Petroleum Geochemistry for Exploration and Production, Second Edition will continue to serve as a foundational reference to understanding the underpinning of the science, as well as a source of references that the reader can use to find detailed descriptions of methods and protocols. - Emphasizes the practical application of geochemistry in solving exploration and production problems - Features more than 200 illustrations, tables, diagrams, and case studies to underscore key concepts - Authored by an expert geochemist with over 40 years of experience in field-based research, applications, and instruction - New edition includes a chapter on environmental issues (impact, climate change, pollution, and corporate responsibility), as well as expanded coverage of topics such as hydrates as unconventional resources; geomicrobial methods (especially DNA analysis) and the use of sea surface slicks from seafloor seeps in surface geochemistry; using GC x GC and asphaltene FTIR in oil correlation studies; and interpretation isotope data for the maturity of thermogenic natural gas

Cobalt and Nickel Removal from Zinc Sulfate Electrolyte by Solvent Extraction and Precipitation Techniques
Author: Richard G. Sandberg
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Air
Languages : en
Pages : 500
Book Description
Sphalerite concentrates prepared during processing of Missouri lead ores contain small percentages of cobalt and nickel which adversely affect zinc electrolysis. The Bureau of Mines has evaluated solvent extraction and precipitation techniques to remove and recover cobalt and nickel from zinc sulfate solution prior to zinc electrolysis. Prepared zinc sulfate solutions containing about 190 gpl of zinc and 50 ppm of both cobalt and nickel were treated using various combinations of complexing reagents, solvent, pH, concentration, time, and temperature. The following complex reagents gave the best results a-nitroso-ßnaphthol, ß-nitrosos-a-napthol, 1,2 cyclohexane dione dioxime (nioxime), di-2-pyridyl ketone oxime, and dimethglyoxime. These reagents in suitable solvents lowered the cobalt and nickel levels to
