Book Description
Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2018 in the subject Energy Sciences, grade: 1.1, Bahir Dar University, language: English, abstract: The target of this project work is to identify the main energy dissipative units and to find a possible solution to tackle the recognized troubles of energy efficiency. A thorough chemical, thermal and electrical performance assessment of corresponding units has made to discover inadequately functioning units. A systematic approach is followed to examine electrical energy consumption of electrical units and compared it with standard and their original design. Furthermore, causes of dissipation are analyzed. Subsequently, based on the evaluation results, economically and environmentally viable measures have been suggested to enhance the competency of the every unit that forms the whole when combined. In addition to unit wise approach, system based approaches has been adopted on units functioning in integrated manner.

Book Description
Sustainable Innovations in the Textile Industry addresses advances taking place at every stage of the textile supply chain leading to improvements in sustainability and resource efficiency. There is a significant emphasis on respect for the environment in current thinking around textiles, which contrasts with the impression many have of the industry due to its impact on global pollution over the past century. A key strength of the book is its comprehensive coverage of the complete textile process sequence, including fibre to textile manufacture, dyeing, printing, finishing, and effluent discharge. This holistic approach is required to effectively address the sustainability issue, which is requires action across the supply chain. In addition, it also provides the latest industry knowledge on technological advances in knitting, non-wovens, speciality chemicals, coating, printing, finishing and other methods that increase sustainability. Including historical aspects of sustainability in textiles as well as the state of the art in innovative sustainable fibers and manufacturing processes, this book is essential reading for anyone interested in sustainable directions in the textile industry. - Emphasizes innovative production technologies, the biotransformation of the textile industry, the circular economy, recycling, and the green future of textiles - Addresses sustainability in business and logistics, explaining how these functions influence the environmental impact of other stages of the value chain - Provides a guide to the eco-labels and assessment methods used by industry

Book Description
Sustainable Technologies for Fashion and Textiles combines the latest academic research and industrial practices to shed light on a wide range of activities that influence how the textiles industry affects the natural environment. Pressure from regulators, customers and other stakeholders has pressed companies to translate general sustainability concepts and ideas into business practices. This is leading to improvements in how the industry consumes water, electricity and chemicals, and to a reduction in the amount of waste generated by textile processes. This book groups approaches to these topics under four themes, fiber, yarn and fabric production, chemical processing, garment manufacturing and recycling. - Addresses sustainability challenges that occur throughout the supply chain, from the sourcing of raw materials, to recycling finished products - Provides introductions to sustainability—both in general and within the textiles industry—making this topic accessible for readers of all backgrounds - Compares the advantages and disadvantages of different approaches to sustainability, helping readers avoid pitfalls when devising their own strategies

Book Description
TERI Energy & Environment Data Diary and Yearbook (TEDDY) is an annual publication brought out by TERI since 1986. It is the only comprehensive energy and environment yearbook in India that provides updated information on the energy supply sectors (coal and lignite, petroleum and natural gas, power, and renewable energy sources), energy demand sectors (agriculture, industry, transport, household, buildings), and environment (local and global). Additionally, the publication reviews government policies and analyses latest policy discourses that have implications on India’s energy and environment sector. TEDDY 2018/19 gives an account of India’s commercial energy balances, extensively covering energy flows within different sectors of the economy and how they have been changing over time. These energy balances and conversion factors are a valuable reference for researchers, scholars, and organizations engaged in energy and related sectors. After the introductory chapter, TEDDY 2018/19 is divided into three sections—Energy Supply, Energy Demand, and Local and Global Environment. One of the main highlights of TEDDY 2018/19 is the addition of a new chapter—Buildings—under Energy Demand section. This chapter gives an in-depth analysis of India’s energy consumption by the buildings sector, and highlights the role of energy efficiency in buildings from the perspectives of both economy and environment. The thirty-fourth edition of TEDDY continues to remain less prose intensive with inclusion of more data, represented with the help of infographics, thus making the publication an authentic and interesting read. TEDDY 2018/19 also features a section on interlinkages of SDGs with energy and environment. Key Features: • Provides a review of government policies, programmes and initiatives that have implications for the petroleum and natural gas sector and the Indian economy • New chapters on Air Pollution, Solid Waste Management, Water Resource Management, and Land and Forest Resource Management • Exhaustive data from energy supply, energy demand, and local and global environment sectors Contents: Energy and environment: an overview Energy supply: Coal and lignite • Petroleum and natural gas • Power • Renewable energy Energy demand: Agriculture • Industry • Transport • Household energy • Buildings Local and global environment: Air quality and pollution • Solid waste management • Water resource management • Land and forest resource management • Climate change
