Nous avons exploré les freins à son enseignement lors des stages ambulatoires en utilisant une méthode qualitative et avons réalisé douze entretiens individuels auprès de Maîtres de Stages des Universités (MSU). Les origines de ces freins sont multiples. Certains sont liés aux MSU : des connaissances théoriques parfois incomplètes sur l'EP, une pratique non-consciente de l'EP et non verbalisée auprès de l'interne, des problèmes éthiques dont l'impression de non-conformité à la médecine basée sur les preuves. D'autres sont liés aux internes et à leur formation essentiellement hospitalière, qui gêne les MSU. De plus, des enseignants remettent en cause l'intérêt d'enseigner l'EP. Pourtant, cet enseignement permet de s'interroger sur les effets spécifiques et non spécifiques des thérapeutiques, sur la communication avec le patient, et sur l'acte de prescription et sa portée.
