Transport and Diffusion in Turbulent Fields
Author: Hadassah Kaplan
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401127492
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 444
Book Description
The 35th OHOLO Conference, which provided the basis for the present book covered a broad range of topics. Basic studies and newly developed methods in modeling atmospheric flows are discussed, besides analyses of concentration fluctuations in different atmospheric conditions, and techniques of data acquisition. The book gives an excellent state-of-the-art impression of the situation in turbulent diffusion and transport.

Turbulence and Dispersion Over Complex Terrain
Author:

ISBN:

Pages : 85
Book Description
Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) is used to generate explicit time-dependent, three-dimensional representations of the turbulent flow field over sinusoidal hills. An advanced Lagrangian puff model is used to calculate dispersion from a small source near the surface within the turbulent flow. The puff model represents the local shear distortions, and includes a splitting algorithm to give an accurate description of the inhomogeneous velocity field In order to provide a measure of confidence in the LES flow simulations, an extensive comparison with laboratory measurements of turbulent flow over wavy surfaces has been completed. Model predictions compare very favorably with the experimental data. Dispersion calculations using the LES velocity fields show strong effects of the terrain on releases from point sources near the surface. In separated flow conditions, wide variability in cloud behavior is observed due to the retention of material within the recirculating valley flow.

Book Description
Two separate studies: a comprehensive 3D CFD investigation for multiparticles in turbulence flow and an extended analytical model for liquid-solid phase are presented in this book. CFD investigation was carried out to predict the hydrodynamic behavior of turbid particle flowing through a horizontal pipe networks including loop consist of bends and straight pipes. Furthermore, the extended analytical model was also re-developed for the liquid-solid system to look at the similar behavior of the solid particles flowing in a turbulent field. These two parallel studies will provide better understandings about the turbidity spikes movements in the drinking water distribution networks. This book is design for the lay reader to advance researcher. Lay readers will get information about CFD modelling and particle modelling technique and the researcher will be benefited in turbulent diffusion modelling and multiphase-multiparticle modelling.
