Excerpt from A Discourse Delivered in the West Church in Boston, August 3, 1845 Mr. Hooper left the society November 19th, 1746, and went to England to receive Episcopal ordination, having accepted an invi tation frdm Trinity Church to become their minister, after the death of Mr. Davenport. He was suspected by his Congregational brethren of unsoundness on some points of theology, a sermon of his at the Thursday lecture gave especial offence, - and this circumstance probably led to the change in his pastoral relations. I infer this from a correspondence which I find in manuscript in the cabinet of the Historical Society. The west parish at this time.
