He was also a teacher at the University of Chicago, served as the Director of the Haskell Oriental Museum, helped found the Oriental Institute, boosted the collections of several museums, and wrote several books on ancient Near East civilizations.

This book is intended to give the reader an account of the principal ideas and beliefs held by the ancient Egyptians concerning the resurrection and the future life, which is derived wholly from native religious works.
