Su influencia ha sido enorme, en grado tal que resulta difícil comprender el desarrollo de la teoría del derecho privado sin tomar nota del impacto que Riesgos y daños ha tenido en la disciplina. Todavía hoy, esta obra conserva plenamente su vigencia, en tanto sigue siendo el punto de partida obligado para quien desee embarcarse en el estudio de los fundamentos de la responsabilidad civil. En conmemoración de los veinte años de la publicación de Riesgos y daños, la Universidad de Girona organizó unas jornadas los días 17 y 18 de diciembre de 2012. Este volumen reúne las contribuciones presentadas por los profesores Carlos Bernal, Jules L. Coleman, John Gardner, Martín Hevia, Tsachi Keren-Paz, Diego M. Papayannis y Carlos F. Rosenkrantz. Las ponencias se centran fundamentalmente en las distintas concepciones del derecho de daños y de la justicia correctiva que Jules L. Coleman defendió a lo largo de su trayectoria académica. El lector encontrará en el contenido de estos trabajos una amplia gama de interpretaciones, expuestas con rigor analítico, sobre la mejor manera de comprender la práctica de la reparación de daños. La teoría del derecho y la filosofía moral y política parecen darse cita en el ámbito de la responsabilidad extracontractual, campo en el cual los filósofos han sostenido con plausibilidad posiciones muy dispares que van desde concebir la práctica como una cuestión de justicia social, hasta ver en ella una instancia clara de moral interpersonal.
