Book Description
My name is Lady Aithera Kilbray. I am the Heart of the Dragon Back Valley, and one of the Guardians of the Dragon Back Castle. I thought I was the last Kilbray, but now I know that is not the case and the Kilbray line will continue when the time is right. To my close friends and family though, I am still only Tera, but my life continues to be anything but ordinary. Aithera and Jira decide to stay in the Dragon Back Valley. This decision causes confusion and uncertainty in others. Solen departs when he believes he is doing more harm than good, and Aithera accepts what she believes is a future of pain that duty and honor bring with that decision. By staying in the valley, Aithera is hidden and safe, but when she leaves to visit her friends in a small settlement near Haulden, a new menace shows himself -- someone from her past that promises to harm her friends to get to her. Jira learns from visiting her family that there is a secret about her mother's origins -- a secret confirmed by an unexpected source -- that reveals she is more than just a mere farm girl. This news sends her on a journey of discovery that brings on more surprises. While Jira is on her quest, Aithera decides that she must become the hunter instead of the hunted. When she finally confronts the one from her past, she gets answers that are very painful and not what she was expecting. Aithera survives the encounter, and when she and Jira return to the valley, they each have surprises of their own. Devon reveals the truth about Aithera's origins, and with this newfound knowledge, she sets out to mend the pain and seek the happiness she longs for with the one who stubbornly resists any return to the valley.

Book Description
"This book seeks to explore the changing nature of English society through a case study of countryside and town in southern England during the period from c.1380 to c.1520. It explores the influence of landscape and population on the agriculture of Wiltshire, the regional patterns of arable and pastoral farming, and the growing contrast between the large-scale mixed farming of the chalklands and the family farms of the claylands. It examines the changing situation of the rural tenant population as it reacted to the greater opportunities available in the land-market. During this period, Wiltshire became one of the great cloth-producing counties of England (as reflected in its rising taxable wealth). Such economic expansion generated jobs both within the industry and beyond, stimulating the market for food, services and manufactured goods. Salisbury was one of the greatest cities in the kingdom, and below this was a hierarchy of interesting lesser towns. But such growth generated its own problems: more and more people became dependent on the cloth trade and particularly on exporting cloth; if exports fell, as during the mid-fifteenth-century crisis, they suffered. As scholars are increasingly aware, the later Middle Ages was a period of considerable change, and this study contributes to debates about the nature of both change and continuity at a national level. It will also be of value to local historians interested in one of the most important periods in Wiltshire's history."--BLACKWELL'S.

Book Description
When Jon sees glowing lights around some students at school he is intrigued. Stefan the leader of the glowing students seems nice and the school is an amazing place; with all kinds of activities. But a mysterious voice warns him how dangerous these glowing students are. The voice, Malthar, teaches Jon things that no one has learned in hundreds of years and Jon sees how evil the glowing students are. Luckily other students offer Jon true friendship and together they unravel the mystery of the evil student's plans. Things get interesting when Stefan and his group disappear through the wall of a nearby cave. Jon and his friends follow them through the gate into a different valley far from school. The evil plot that they learn about there convinces them that Stefan and the other boys in his group are merely pawns of a vicious creature attempting to take over the school. Can Jon and his new friends figure out the plan before everyone in the school is converted into the creature's sinister tools?

Book Description
This is the first major study in English of the reign of Philip Augustus who ruled France from 1180 - 1223. Outshone for posterity, by his flamboyant contemporaries, the Angevin family of Henry II and his feuding sons, Philip was in fact far more successful than any of them, astutely playing them off against each other and recovering for the French crown their vast estates in Northern France including Normandy itself. As well as reasserting the power of the Capetian monarchy, he was also leader of the Third Crusade. Drawing together all the threads in the life of one of France's most forceful rulers, this new study offers a study of the nature of monarchy in late medieval Europe as well as an insight into a subtle and secretive personality.

Book Description
Local history has contributed more than any other field to the development of a wide range of techniques applied intensively to the understanding of historic and prehistoric ways of living. In this new study a range of archaeological and documentary techniques are combined to show how the land has been settled and cultivated over a period of more than 4000 years. The medieval and modern woodland landscape is shown not to be a survival of primeval forests but the end product of constant change. Periods of extensive cultivation have alternated with periods of retreat when the corn fields have reverted to wood and pasture.
