Book Description
Dr. Michel Cohen, named by the New York Post as the hip, "must-have" pediatrician, has an important message for parents: Don't worry so much. In an easy-reference alphabetical format, The New Basics clearly lays out the concerns you may face as aparent and explains how to solve them -- without fuss, without stress, and without harming your child by using unnecessary medicines or interventions. With sensitivity and love, Dr. Michel describes proven techniques for keeping your children healthy and happy without driving yourself crazy. He will show you how to set positive habits for sleeping and eating and how to treat ailments early and effectively. You'll learn when antibiotics are helpful and when they can be harmful. If you're having trouble breast feeding, pumping, or bottle weaning, Dr. Michel has the advice to set you back on track. If after several months your baby is still not sleeping through the night, The New Basics will provide you with tried-and-true methods to help ease this difficult transition for babies and parents. Dr. Michel recognizes that you're probably asking the same questions his own patients' parents frequently ask, so he includes a section called "Real Questions from Real Parents" throughout the book. You'll find important answers about treating asthma, head injuries, fevers, stomach bugs, colic, earaches, and other ailments. More than just a book on how to care for your child's physical well-being, The New Basics also covers such parenting challenges as biting, hitting, ADD, separation anxiety, how to prevent the terrible twos (and threes and fours ...), and preparing your child for a new sibling.

Book Description
The iron-bound barrier that once separated fae from the sunlit realm is failing, and a lone cowboy will face beauty and danger…from one woman and from his own yearning heart. Welcome to the Court of the Steel-Born Fae. Adelyn is a musetta, a pampered favorite in the faedrealii, sought after for her untouched beauty, perfect grace, and the inspiration she arouses in others. But after a treasonous error, Adelyn is sentenced to death…unless she can find the rebellious runaway fae who are harboring escapees from the court and bring them back to face the queen’s questionable mercy. When Oregon rancher Josh Reimer swings by his neighbors’ spread while they are away, he finds the mess of a busted water main...and an almost magically gorgeous woman. Must be one of those Hollywood starlets his neighbors had warned him might stop by. Still hurting from his ex-wife’s desertion and the shattered illusion of love, he reluctantly offers Adelyn a bunk at his place. Although she intends to seduce the boring mortal to discover what he knows about this phae halfway house, Adelyn finds herself strangely drawn to the quiet human charms Josh wields on the creatures and earth—even the metal smithing—under his hands. For the first time, she plys her muse powers with an actual purpose and sees lasting beauty unfurl in a rough, stark land. She will have to sacrifice it all to return to the faedrealii, but Josh won’t lose the magic they’ve found together. He will hunt her down to the steel gates of the queen’s court and make Adelyn choose: Will she cling to the love of illusion or risk everything for a passion that will last forever? For readers who enjoy: Paranormal fantasy romance of fairy-tale happily ever afters, shorter novella length stories of fey royalty and rugged cowboy rancher heroes with magic, spells, charms, enchantments, and broken hearts healed by a second chance at love. *Originally published as A Little Night Muse by Jessa Slade

Salma's novel takes you into a world of women. It is writing that describes the inner universe of women who do not know the outside world. Salma deftly shows [how] these women navigate their sad, emotional landscape, holding time in their hands, gradually stepping outside their sorrows. Everything here is fresh, including their feminine language. Traditionalist mindsets may not be taken in by this novel where stories emerge from under the blanket of tradition, revealing that a break with the old order is inevitable' -Perumal Murugan, Indian author, scholar and literary chronicler who writes in Tamil 'Women, Dreaming is an evocative double bill of fierce feminine lifescapes, with the iconic Salma's searing Tamil narrative rendered in translucent English by the hugely gifted Meena Kandasamy' -Namita Gokhale, writer, publisher and festival director 'Women grapple with life in a universe constructed by men, for men[,] in this moving story set in a tiny village in Tamil Nadu. Despite the claustrophobic trappings of religious patriarchy, they chart their own course and find their own voice. Book Description
Now available in paperback, this handsome retrospective on one of BC's most beloved artists unveils photographs, sketches, and ephemera from the artist's estate. The reputation of E. J. Hughes in British Columbia is second only to that of Emily Carr. His paintings, collected by every major gallery in our country, fetch more than $1 million at auction. Yet Hughes lived a notoriously private life. Hughes painted scenes from all over BC, but he especially loved Vancouver Island, and lived most of his 93 years at Shawnigan Lake and Duncan. This book features paintings from his beloved island home--from Sidney, past Goldstream and the Malahat to Cowichan Bay, Genoa Bay, and Maple Bay. With stops along the way, he painted scenes from Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Comox, and Courtenay. Hughes recorded the passing of an era, capturing the coastal steamships, log booms, fishing boats, and the landscapes he treasured. This book includes a biography of the artist, highlights more than 60 of his finest works alongside sketches and photos revealing his studio methods, and shares his handwritten notes.
